I’ve been living in Abbotsford for nearly 5 years and for some strange reason never made it to the Park Hotel. We visited last night and safe to say it’s now our regular. We were greeted with a big smile and hello by bar staff as we walked in, made our way to the cozy beer garden where staff again, greeted us with a friendly g’day. We had a quick dinner, the food was great, the chicken Parma was one of the best I’ve had in ages and the wait staff made sure we were all good. On our way out, a small amount of cash had fallen out of my pocket onto the seat. One of the staff promptly chased us down and returned it. Honesty like that can be hard to find. If the venue manager reads this, give your Tuesday crew a pat on the back, they deserve it.

I really love this little pub tucked away in the back streets of Melbourne, great menu with quality food that will keep you coming back for more. Boutique tap beers are to be expected and change regularly to keep the 'hipsters' happy. The beer garden is a lush delight, with a mixture of covered and open spaces for when it's hot and then, thunderstorms 30 minutes later. Be sure to book a table if you'd like to sit in the beer garden because they book out quickly. Highly recommended Food: Wagyu rump with parsley butter, fine cabbage slaw and hasselback potatoes.

This place is an institution! Always great food (standard parma and steaks are always top notch) and their specials and burgers are also excellent. Love the Pinot grigio they serve and tried their new British poutine, spicy Korean cauliflower and the steamed broccoli and beans were very well seasoned. A bit on the spenny side of things, but look, it's worth it. Great service, good vibes, if you can manage to get a seat then your golden. I just wish they had some shelter from the rain (or sun) for the smokers tables out front.

Come on! Better service at McDonald’s or Hungry Jacks.

Gluten-free hamburger with chips for our coeliac friend. Order taken and paid for, then…”sorry madam, we don’t have gluten-free rolls or bread” not to worry - the entree salt and pepper squid will do, but with chips please…”no, you won’t need chips - there’s plenty”… despite still requesting chips, the staff REFUSED to add to the order.

We asked a second staff member if chips can please be added to the entree S&P squid, as it’s for a main - and was told …”no, it will be enough”…

They refunded the difference between the hamburger and entree…but the S&P squid was an entree and NOT a complete meal - not to mention customer service!

Another order was Chicken Parmagiana, I’m sure they thought that the huge layer of ham was a bonus, but, despite the melted cheese it was fridge cold.

I’m struggling to understand how a commercial kitchen does not have the basic ingredients for their standard menu on hand (bread freezes team), but to have the staff refuse to put a 50 cents cost item on to a plate is mind boggling bad...

I have been going to Park hotel on and off forever 30 years and have always loved the place for its ambiance and food. But unfortunately last night I had an unfortunate experience. I know the bar was busy, but one of the waitresses who has been there for many years basically hit my elbow so hard it made jump off my stool. She walked off saying nothing like a drunk patron would. I went straight to the bar to complain about my painfully experience. Thought the manager would have said something to the waitress ,as I thought an apology was appropriate. She did eventually reappear to clear more tables but not to apologize. As she passed by I mentioned the incident and she even said it hurt her hand. No apology until I asked. Not the way to treat a long term local client. I mentioned it again to whom I think is the manager who basically just smirked and fobbed me off . All they had to do was say excuse me and sorry. I don't think that was asking to much. I should not have to ask for someone to...

Once again unto the breach dear friends, once more. And so it was that we headed back to the old stomping ground of Abbotsford to revisit an old favorite. The Park Hotel has changed hands since the last time I was there. The new owners have made a few changes but not enough to make the old girl unrecognizable. Food was good, all 4 at our table enjoyed theirs. The only criticism I would make is the transition to a full craft tap beer selection. I and my partner both thought that the list lacked balance with a few stouts, a sour and a bunch of overly hoppy offerings. The Park of old had Carlton on tap but also offered Coopers Lager. I understand the reasons for getting rid of the CUB offerings but why not hang onto the Coopers for those who just want a crisp, easy drinking beer or 10. We left straight after dinner, 2 hours earlier than expected, and headed elsewhere...
