As a lover of all things themed, how have we not being here before? Located on the edge of the city next Vic Market, we were on our way to 'Diner on Franklin' when we decided to dine here. . Something to see everywhere you look, retro posters cover the walls, printed at OW potentially ModPodged very well or taped on, don't look too close. Warm glow, iridescent stars and moon garlands, twinkling fairy lights and mini parasols hang from the ceiling over the ramp into the seating area. It's lovely. . 🍱 Teriyaki Salmon Teishoku Set $29 w miso soup, octopus, ube croquette, mini cream puff 🍗 Chicken Katsu Don $20 . A bit pricey than other places, but nice atmosphere. Never before have we seen a place offering both traditional bentos ($21) in those red boxes with compartments and also the tray sets. My tray was pretty good, not a must try though. Check it out if you're in the area. Good for casual dinners, not dates though, too loud. . Instead of restaurant music they had a mix of kpop and jpop music videos on the tv, it was intrusive to the dining experience. Like having a tv in the bedroom it's a no from us. . Service was friendly, order and pay via app. Pay cash at the counter, not on a weekend for the best price lol,...

Best value authentic teishoku sets @tokyo7japaneserestaurant in north melbourne, serving the tastiest and affordable Japanese cuisine over Japanese beer and desserts.

They have a wide variety of Japanese food options from bento boxes to teishoku sets to ramen to Don buri to popular street eats and sushi and sashimi as well.

We had the wagyu teishoku set and the grilled salmon one, comes with so many yummy sides and onsen egg and rice. Priced under $35 and it will fill you up. Paired our meals with Asahi tap beer by getting their beer set meal with takoyaki, which were incredibly delicious. Highly recommend

Also had the salmon sashimi which was super fresh and good, must try. And the chicken skewers were just perfect and crispy yet so addictive. Highly recommended.

We also tried the Chewy mochi and it was great. Couldn’t really fault anything we had here. And also excellent and fast service and very welcoming and attentive staff.

All prices on the menu are so impossibly reasonable and cheap considering they serve quite a good quality of food here. I’ll be back again for the teishoku sets and...

Very bad service and racism???!!! Mediocre food.

Writing this review after a few months as this experience has left a bad taste.

Visited with a group of friends in January. When we first walked in we were ignored, took us a while to get seated as no one wanted to serve us. The male waiter saw us but ignored us, having the female waiter handle us. Once seated, throughout the meal the male waiter was very rude to us. My friend asked for a water refill from him once and was met with silence and a disapproving/disgusted look as he slammed the water bottle on to the table. Funnily enough, other tables with people of different race seemed to receive friendly service with a smile from this man. The female waitress for that night had okay service, she was the one who seated us and served us the food, since the male waiter didn't want to deal with us I'm guessing :)

Needless to say worst Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. Food was mediocre at best, not authentic at all. Service was terrible, definitely felt that we were treated...

👍🏻🇯🇵 This place is a hidden gem in the city! With a lovely decor reminiscent of Japanese and a bunch of anime posters like Naruto, One Piece, etc. stuck around, it's a visual treat for anime and Japanese culture lovers! 🍜🍥 The Kimchi Beef Ramen ($20.80) that I ordered was quite delicious. Personally, I'd have preferred a slightly thicker soup, but it wasn't a big issue. A lovely bowl of ramen on a wooden table, with paper lanterns fluttering overhead, a faux cherry blossom plant near the entrace made the whole experience so amazing! The menu comes bound in a wooden cover, so that's something. The place serves alcohol as well. 💲🈹 Good price range, but I felt I paid more for the experience rather than the food itself, but it definitely felt worth it and therefore no complaints. The staff were friendly, the food came in quick and I'll definitely recommend this place for a wholesome Japanese dining experience!
