Brentani — Restaurant in Melbourne

Bellissimo. Scrumptious and cosy Italian food at Ristorante Brentani. All the pastas were spot on. Fresh pasta with great ingredients and sauces loaded with flavour. We had the mushroom truffle pasta and the prawn spinach pasta. The mushroom pasta was full of rich flavour. There was a wonderful umami feel to it. The prawn spinach pasta had a fresh feel to its tastiness. One of our party had the poultry of the day and it was fantastic. Perfectly cooked chicken wrapped with pancetta. The creamy mash potatoes went well with the chicken and the accompanying sauce.

Of course we had to finish with dessert. We had two Italian classics, Panna Cotta and Tirasimu. Faultless again. The panda cotta was delightful with the right mouth feel. The tiramisu was balanced with neither the coffee flavour nor the sweetness overpowering each other.

My friends and I were so impressed with Brentani's authentic Italian food and attentive service from all staff - especially since it was their opening night too! I just had to write a review to compliment them because all the meals came out together, perfectly plated and hot, and the taste exceeded our expectations. I've lived in Italy for five years and the risotto with radicchio and salsiccia (Italian sausage) was delicious as were my friend's dishes on the specials board of chicken with mozzarella, tomatoes and kalamata olives with sweet potato mash and the slow-cooked beef in carrot and celeriac with parmesan and potato mash (which I tasted) was just divine. Hello. Have had dinner here earlier this week as I have enjoyed a dinner here previously before and have posted a really positive glowing preview before. My experience this time however was very aberrant. As I already know the food would be good what was extremely off putting was the service. The waiter who served us was Carla or Carly?
