Poppy G's — Restaurant in Midland

I've visited once and ordered online once so far.

I'll start off with the good. The burgers are fine, taste good and seem to travel OK when ordered as a delivery. The chips are also good, though could use more salt.

Unfortunately, it seems they have a huge problem with service. The girl that served me was paying no attention while I was waiting at the counter. She seemed like she really didn't want to be alive, let alone at that counter.

From order to out the door is also quite slow. Looking at how the kitchen operated it seemed like where assembly occurred was not in reach of where buns or meat was cooked. It seemed disjointed and like a prime location for improvements.

For my 2nd order, I ordered through Doordash. I specified no tomato, lettuce or pickles. The burger I ordered stated on Doordash that it included streaky bacon.

Burger arrived, no bacon, but the lettuce, tomato and pickles were present. It seems that the staff there didn't read the order correctly.

Honestly, this place could be a serviceable burger joint. The food is fine (solid 7 out of 10) but the service really isn't there. If you don't mind suffering through shoddy service, then by all means you should go there as the food is quite nice.

But if you want good service with your food, right now (as of 22/12/2020) you really are not going to get it.

I genuinely hope the owners read this and I also genuinely hope I can adjust my review in 6 months when Elgoog...

Attended Poppy G's last night (23/09), and had the worst dining experience I've had in a very long time.

We came in a group, and put our orders in on the same table number. I and my partner ordered first. The meals took a fair while to come out in general, but the shocking part was, mine never came. Nor did my partners.

We had to highlight this to one of the staff who came to the table (who seemed to be guessing what each kind of burger was by looking at it as they brought them out, leading to a lot of confusion at our table) and they went back inside.

Two more tables that had arrived after us proceeded to get their burgers and still no food for myself. We went inside to complain, and they told us they were "cooking them now,"

By the time an hour and a half had passed since I ordered with no burger, I went inside and asked for a refund, which turned into an argument with the, frankly disrespectful staff member.

They attempted to cover the inconvenience with things as tiny as "a free rasher of bacon," or "some extra fries," - anything but a refund. In the end it seemed they didn't want to be a refund because they wanted to hide their incompetence from the owner. Even tried to infer it was my fault for not asking where my missing food was earlier (not that asking helped the first time).

Terrible dining experience....

The only thing to like about this place is the poor young staff members, who with limited training where dealing with an avalanche of bad management. Seems management couldn't grasp the idea of numbered orders. Poor waitress had know idea who's burgers she was bringing out, I ordered a gluten free burger... Thank God my gluten free request was purely diet related and I'm not a coeliac. My grandsons milkshakes never arrived and we had to remind them of the burgers that were missing from our order, one of which never made it to the table. One burger came out with raw egg, upon returning that to the kitchen we were given a refund. After waiting almost two hours for my grandsons milkshakes and the remaining burger the manager said that she couldn't give us a refund but would give us a discount upon being told we wouldn't be coming back she said there was nothing she could do!!! OMG! it doesn't take a rocket scientist to operate an EFTPOS! you know that thing you said you didn't have, that we tapped our card on to pay for that rubbish you dished up! Blaming staff members for NOT turning up, only shows your lack of ability to employ and adequately train staff before your opening night! The fault is ALL yours and the staff that did turn up did as good a job as they could with completely...
