Caffe Belgiorno — Restaurant in Mount Gambier

I’m half Italian. Lived in Italy and was an Italian cuisine chef for 10 years. This place is not Italian food. The dish names are all made up and ones Ive never heard of. The nap sauce tastes like if you were to drain tinned spaghetti sauce from the heinz cans.. it’s rubbish. Had the prawn and prosciutto pizza as well… prawns were shrimp from shrimp fried rice. Not actual prawns and the prosciutto was less than minimal and also cooked on the pizza. You don’t cook prosciutto on pizza! Ruins the flavour of the meat. The pizza base was like some frozen pizza quality.. garbage. If the locals here think this is Italian well sorry to say but the owners have pulled the wool over your eyes.

Carbonara Rosso?? What is that? Pretty stupid not even a real thing but they sell it. Google carbonara, you’ll never see a red sauce one

Pull your head in and get authentic. Not sure if this place has lost its way or whether the head chef has no clue what theyre actually doing. Honestly if you are a local and think this is good…wow you have no idea. Real Italians would spit on this place. I’m sorry but Do not recommend.

has been a go-to place when visitors to the region are in town, even though the place can be insanely noisy, the food is usually good and the service ok. however, this weekend, we were constantly pestered by wait staff, we were trying to relax at the end of the meal, with some of our party still drinking their coffees yet wait staff continually interrupted us, asking what they could remove from the table and on occasion took glasses which were still being used. One of our party requested a replacement glass which was delivered and let's say, not politely placed on the table. I suspect the staff are told to 'look' busy but my guests and I were not impressed with the way we were hassled. There were plenty of vacant tables at this time. The food was ok except for a calzone that came out resembling a pie floater as it was swimming in sauce. It was requested that it be put on another plate, which was done however when returned to the table the diner was chastised for not requesting the sauce on the side. This is my first visit to Caffe Belgirono and all I can say is AMAZING!! We were warmly greeted by friendly staff upon entering and shown to our table. I recommend phoning to reserve your table the restaurant was quite full. Walk up bar and meal orders. An amazing cocktail list is available. Caffe Belgirono has an extensive menu on offer with all the classics and many other dishes. Every meal looked and smelled fabulous. Our meals were served to us quickly and were all beautiful and fresh and hot. The atmosphere in the restaurant was awesome. Families, couples, individuals.. all enjoying their meals. Walter works the woodfire and allowed me to take his photo. All of the staff there are friendly and helpful.

I highly recommend Caffe Belgirono for dining in, take away and delivery through Mount Gambiers local food delivery service Eat-Ezy.

The menu has something for everyone and i cannot wait for my next visit to this magnificent local restaurant.
