San Piero Coffee Bar — Restaurant in Mount Gambier

Thought I would give these guys a go, so I went in yesterday with two colleagues to meet up and do some school work. Was in there for 2 hours and we purchased 3 meals, 3 coffees and 3 juices.

I rang up again today to book a table again, and was told I was not welcome as we took too long yesterday and they were “losing customers” yesterday as we apparently took too long (keeping in mind there were several other tables free, and we continuously were buying food/beverages whilst there).

Homely little place with very friendly proprietor. I had a latte and a muffin. Unfortunately the coffee was way too hot and way too strong with a burnt and muddy aftertaste. I actually threw the coffee away. I was just passing through Mt Gambier and had similar at another cafe in the area… is this the ‘local style’? If it is … it’s not good 😳 The muffin was just ok… it was supposed to be a banana muffin but had no actual banana pieces in it and tasted like it was made with banana...

Great coffee. One of the few places that listened to my specific requests and actually did it. Standard blend is good and strong. The fact that they were open at 6am for this weary traveller was very welcome; I went back for a second before leaving Mount Gambier. The 5* is purely for coffee: foods options look limited and quite a few lines were sold out even early in the morning, so be aware. Friendly service and warm even at 6am on a blustery and rainy...
