Went to Lucy Luu as we have always had a fabulous time going to Miss Chows and this is their sister restaurant. The owner has covered bases with Miss Chows being high end, finer dining and then Lucy Luu is more of a party atmosphere.
We were sat near the toilets which were covered with a mesh fabric which I thought was a nice touch but some foul smell was there and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from.
The waiter let us know it was happy hour for another 10 mins and to order drinks which I thought was super lovely! We ordered a geishas blush and a lucy's sour. I quickly grabbed the waiter about 2 mins later and asked if can we also grab a lychee martini. However the martini was charged at full price (could be because it's not on the menu) who knows but again transparency - tell people!
Food wise we ordered the prawn toast, this was not fabulous and had some weird after taste. The wagyu skewers were delish. The lamb dumplings smelt a bit funny but tasted nice. We ordered the truffle fried rice and lamb cutlets for our main to share but we were full so asked for it to be takeaway. 3 lamb cutlets at $34 is not okay. Drinks come out really fast which we love as we ordered a red and cocktails which came out super fast, however food coming out 5 mins later always makes me worry if it's freshly cooked. Portions were very small for what you pay.
Overall it was an okay experience. The waiter who served us at the start wasn't friendly but at the end was overly friendly (very confusing). What bothered me the most was upon going to pay, I was never offered the bill, just tap and pay. I didn't think about it until the next day and rang to ask for the receipt to check the bill. Overall, I think Miss Chows is a better...
Read moreJust had an unfortunate experience at Lucy Luu. I was really looking forward to a number of small bites to eat and a drink this evening. Ordered a beer and a bourbon shortly after arriving and shortly after that placed an order for the food. Three dishes came out within about 5 minutes of placing the order with no sign of a drink. When we asked about the drinks the waitstaff went to check and came back and said it would be a bit longer wait which we werenât happy about as we wanted the drink with our food and the last two dishes we ordered had now arrived as well. I have no problem waiting awhile for a drink if a venue is busy, but I definitely donât want my food rushed out first. We had no issue with the waitstaff as we know they generally have little control over decisions made by the venue owners/managers, but they did unfortunately bear the brunt of our frustration. When paying, the barman was very uninterested in taking any advice on board about the experience, saying they canât coordinate the drinks and food and when I said no one would expect a restaurant to dump all the food at the same time before any sign of a drink, his response was that âitâs a bar not a restaurantâ which only confuses me more because how does a bar only have one barperson serving but four waiters. I live locally, Iâve been here many times and I really like the food (even tonight), but I just canât support a venue where you pay that much money for such a below par experience. I...
Read morePlease see this as constructive feedback as I hope you guys will endeavour to improve đ. Firstly my wife and I came in to experience your bottomless brunch "Loose with Lucy" recently. We were seated and served 3 starters being the 2 dumplings, a small bowl of cauliflower bites and some spring rolls to share. The team were doing there best to cater to everybody as you could tell they were under the pump possibly short staffed, so within the allotted time we had roughly 5 drinks each plus our mains. We ordered the Crispy chicken ( which was more of a rubber texture than crispy) and the Singapore fried vermicelli . Now for the amount we paid we left feeling let down as we both agreed we were still quite hungry and ended up grabbing a bite at another resto along the street front and left completely sober. Could you possibly look at adding more selections to your menu or increased portion sizes as I feel this could have made a world of difference? And also adding more staffing to your Bottomless timetables to cater to the chaos that ensues ( larger crowds with increased waiting time for drinks and food) Lastly as a side note potentially putting some incense or oils in the restrooms to mask the funky smell, as they did give off quite a strong odour that was quite off putting. Like I said this is only constructive feedback I hope you'll take aboard and wish you all nothing...
