Matilda's — Restaurant in Nambucca Heads

I REALLY want to support this local business and give a raving review. However, I can not lie. I did not like their pizzas. The crust lacked texture and chewiness on the inside and the crunch on the outside. Instead, the texture throughout was even and dense- felt as if they used polenta or regular flour. There were no air pockets or anything else that resemble the familiar pizza crust. We ordered the VEGAN pizzas, and while I understand that this will not be as oily as a pizza with cheese, the pizza was DRY AF with no flavour. The cashew ‘cheese’ was a tiny bit of sauce that they drizzled on top of the vegetables. On the redeeming side, the people and service was excellent. The ordering process was simple. The place itself is charming and this makes it a perfect place for tourists on holidays. Who needs discriminating tastebuds when you’ve so much alcohol in your system! Further, the pizza might have been for people watching their weight. After two slices, I definitely lost my appetite. (This was after cycling, diving, and swimming). We booked a table for 3 at 7pm and we arrived at 6.55pm.We were waiting to be showed our table and a lady stood behind us.The young girl serving came up to us and said to us " I will be with you in a few minutes" She then spoke to the lady waiting behind us , obviously she knew her and a local.Told her I will get your order straight away .So the young girl went and picked up the pizzas for this lady and then had to go back and get the rest of the order. Meanwhile we were still waiting.Finally after serving the lady who was behind us , she asked for our name and then told us " I will have to get your table ready and I will get back you you" I nearly walked out then with my wife and son and we should have done so. So this young lady needs training in customer service.Just don't serve the locals first.I am a paying customer and the lady behind me should have been kept waiting.First impressions really count and I just can't see myself coming back.We visit Nambucca Heads often so we will have to look at other places to...

First time trying out Matildas and had the best experience!

Atmosphere was so chilled and relaxing yet very fun and engaging. From the decor to how people are seated everything was awesome!

Food was nice and fresh and still hot when it came out. The food was incredible and very presentable. We had the veal, pasta, ham and pineapple pizza and the seafood pizza and both were nicely cooked and seasoned well!

Staff was on another level! From the moment we walked into the place we were greeted by the lovely staff and seated. Smiling at every customer that came through and just being down to earth when having conversations. The way they served us was very professional and top tier customer service. They made our night more special since it was my first time in Nambucca Heads.

Sadly we missed out on the oysters and mussels which we were looking forward too 🤣 however, the food made up for the fact they sold out! I will definitely come back when i'm in Nambucca Heads again and hoping for the oysters and mussels to be...
