2 stars because I buy King Crab Legs from them, when they have it, and that's the only reason I now go there.
Have been at Fishermen's Co-Op a few times to eat Fish & Chips, and every single time told myself never again!
They do have fresh fish and that is their attraction, and they do have a bit more variety than grocery stores. But their prices is utterly greedy. After all, they buy directly from all the local fishermen (who realistically have no choice but to sell to these guys).
The same fish or shrimp can be purchased at local supermarket for almost half the price, and during holidays supermarkets have King Crab Legs for just about half the price Fishermen's Co-Op charges.
The worst thing about this place is their Fish&Chips. It is utterly terrible. In one of my first visits and while in line waiting to order with my daughter, I saw the cook remove the fish and chips from the Fryer no less than 5 times to see if it was cooked.
I told the cashier to tell the manager that if the stuff is removed from the fryer and then put back in, the oil congeals and makes the food greasy. She told the manager and he gave me a dirty look!
In the mean time the cook removed the stuff from fryer and put them back in a few more times before serving it. The Fish and Chips were so greasy that I could squeeze the oil. I gave most to the Seagulls.
They have the most expensive seafood and greasiest...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible food and service. We visited the Fishermans co op last night for dinner at 6pm and it was very busy being holiday period, we ordered $20 worth of calamari and fish and chips and some extra chips and sauces to eat in. After a 40 min wait we opened our boxes with and the chips were brown and tasted terrible, the calamari was the worst I have ever had with this gooey batter and tasted off the fish was soggy and no sauce that we paid for. We then left everything and went to see the young girl inside that served us and she just said sorry about that. No attempt to fix the situation or any training in this area of how to deal with these situations. I had my very hungry 8 year old son who had decided to take the brown small chips with him to go and I then asked for some tomato sauce and she said that would be 50 cents. After spending $55 on fish, calamari and chips that were so revolting you couldn't eat it. There where plenty of staff on, all kids and the whole place was being run by untrained staff and completely out of their depth. Very sad. We pick up chips after the beach here all the time and they are usually really good chips. We also buy fresh prawns here and they are usually really good also. But won't be back unfortunately they have lost us...
Read moreMy friend and I had lunch here today and it was a bit hit and miss. She got the hoki fish and chips and that was great, nice big piece fish and a serving of chips. I decided to pay a bit extra to have the flake and I was pretty disappointed in what I got. 3 rather small thin chuncks of crumbed fish and it tasted awful, all i could taste was dirty old oil. For someone who normally loves a good bit of flake this was very inedible (my friend also tried it and agreed it was terrible) paying $18.50 I'd expect it to taste nice so I decided to take it back and swap it out for the fish that my friend had. The young girl who served me was friendly and helpful and went to check with the manager about the request, then I was greeted with nothing but rude and condescending attitude from the older lady running the place. All she had to say to me was that it was not thier fault that I chose that fish, didn't want to swap the fish for something else, was reluctant to then give me a refund and was absolutely not willing to rectify the issue and rather to continue to tell me how it's my fault that the fish was rubbish. In future I think I'll stick with my favourite fish and chip shop near dolphin magic far superior quality and...
