March 2024. So great to see fresh fish for sale. So much to choose from fillets as well as whole fish, cooked prawns, whole squid and a few green prawns. The other side of the shop is the takeaway section. We ordered the Fisherman’s Basket @$48. Had 6 fish cocktails, 4 huge calamari rings, 4 prawn cutlets, 2 seafood sticks all deep fried. A small container of tartare and lots of lemon wedges and a separate box filled to the top with chips. Probably a bit too much for 2. The food was delicious and fried in frash oil. In my opinion if it’s cooked in fresh oil you don’t burp all afternoon, and we certainly didn’t. I think I read if you ordered under $50 there is a small surcharge. We will be going back, not just for the takeaway but for the fresh seafood.

Reduced trading hours for takeaway due to staff shortage, we visited 12 Dec. Mon - Thurs 10am to 2.30pm, Fri - Sun 10am to 6pm. Went on sunday night at 6.15pm but they had closed (ppl were still waiting for their order though). We went on Monday and got the battered fish and chips plus extra crispy fish and grilled local maki maki fish. The std fish and chips was really good, crispy and big serving for only $12.50. the Maki Maki was a bit disappointing as it was a tad dry and not worth the $22.50. We were lucky we go a table as others were leaving. Need to be quick. (Note peas were not provided)

DISAPPOINTED WITH SERVICE AND PRICE Loved: The fresh prawns, calamari and chips Disappointed with: The service (the girl charged us extra), the greasy crumbed prawns and the size of them, the cost (extremely expensive for what you received) and the long wait for being served and the long wait for our food. When we received our food, the girl had forgotten to give us our sauces which we paid for. However, we did love the area as we were able to take our food up to the jetty and eat while watching people fish from the rocks. Otherwise we can't recommend the cooked option unless it's the calamari and can only suggest the fresh seafood as an expensive treat. Sorry guys - we felt we weren't served with a smile and it was all about the money. Hubby couldn't even get slices of lemon unless he went and waited in line down the other end of the counter after purchasing his prawns. But the prawns were good - just very expensive.

No kidding this is thhhheeeee beeessssttt fish and chips I had ever had! The chips, chopped to perfection. But what’s truely perfect is that juicy piece of fish. It’s big it’s juicy it’s thiccc it was awesome! The scallop - awesome. The squid and prawns - fulsome! Whole experience - whole some! I will 10000000% come back again! Only downside - not enough seat and bathroom is not on site. No aircon or fan so on a hot day it’s prosper hot too. But when the food is this good - who cares bout the heat!

After a long break I went back. Nothing has changed. Still a lack of fresh local fish? Where does the catch from the local fleet go? Sydney markets? It never looks attractive or inviting. Lack of seating. Lack of parking. Friendly staff. Quick service. Not really the tourist attraction it is made out to be mainly serving imported or fish redirected from Sydney markets certainly not fresh off the trawlers. Still looking for a spotless fresh seafood shop anywhere in Coffs. They are all tied looking
