Fuji Ramen — Restaurant in New South Wales

When Fuji Ramen first opened, it quickly became my favourite spot in town. Having recently moved back after a couple of years in Perth, I was excited to return and revisit a place I once loved. Sadly, this recent visit left me deeply disappointed.

The restaurant claims to offer authentic Japanese dishes, but after tasting what was served to me, it’s clear that authenticity is no longer a priority under the new management. I ordered Chicken Katsudon, a dish traditionally made with a golden-fried chicken cutlet, savoury-sweet onions, and eggs simmered in dashi broth, all served over rice. Instead, what I received was far from that: a dry, overcooked chicken cutlet that had been pounded so thin it was tough to eat, a few shreds of cabbage, and half a cold hard-boiled egg drizzled with Kewpie mayo. Where was the signature eggy sauce that makes this dish? Nowhere to be seen.

When I questioned the staff about the preparation, I was told, "this is how we make it." Well, I can confidently say, this is not Japanese.

Came here and had massive feast. Sashimi is just okay, at acceptable level, but what you can expect from Tamworth? Takoyaki and Gzoya are good. I would prefer vinegar soy sauce for gzoya, rather than just simply soy. Too much sauces on soft shell crab, i couldnt even taste the crab anymore. Miso Ramen is okay. The soup not thick enough, little bit blank. Chicken curry is good, the curry taste thick and nice. However, i dont like sushi here. I think something wrong with sushi rice, its not smooth as it supposed be. Really hard feeling to describe. I asked for takeaways for Ramen and Udon...and very disappointed. The soup and noodle were put together in one takeaway, as long as i get home, it became....... So i took away 2 stars due to sushi and...

The food was good... The restaurant was nice and temperature perfect...

Service was nice and the food came quickly... Cold water was supplied and out door seating was available as well... This is a small restaurant and I recommend if you want a place to eat this is perfect...
