I was served by a guy who didn't listen to what I said. I would think that listening to customers orders would be critical to success at the job... He asked whether I wanted guacamole which I declined, but he still added it. I don't have a allergy or problem with guacamole, just I strongly detest to paying extra $2 for a spoonful. When I'm already paying $16 for a burrito the extra $2 for a smear is hard to swallow.
I also ordered a veg bowl. From the start I said I just wanted rice, corn chips and tomato salsa. What I got was half a cup rice, half a cup tomato salsa, and a pinch of broken up corn chips. Barely took up half the box. Yet at the register the guy had the hide to ring up "extra rice" on a already $13 bowl which was half empty.
Is it usual for your staff to have all the food out, sitting on top of the cabinet while they clean the inside of the cold well and inside of the glass... literally anyone could have sneezed all over the uncovered food which was going into my meals. Why do they clean food service areas while the restaurant is operating? I could appreciate needing to do it if you were 24/7... but this was 8pm at night, not long before close. Cleaning chemicals were being sprayed right next to my food being prepared on the line. Overspray and mist going into my dinner. I think having food uncovered out of the cold well while the restaurant is operating exposes customers to unacceptable risks. Cleaning should be conducted once the food is safely stored.
I attempted to deal with these issues directly with management, but they declined to make...
Read moreAfter waiting in line to be served for at least 10 minutes I ordered my meal one of the item's being pulled pork Nachos which I have had many times before at different Zambrero restaurants. When back at the table I had a spoonful of it and instantly my mouth was on fire I was slightly confused as it had NEVER been this hot before and there was no way I could eat it. I took the Nachos back to the counter and explained my situation and I was told that the recipe for the pulled pork had recently changed and they have made it more spicy! My point is that it should be written somewhere or ALL staff should tell the customers when ordering it! ( one staff member that ordered after me was told of these changes) I asked would they replace my meal with one made with pulled beef. After some discussion amongst themselves they agreed to replace it after I was told this is not usually what they do! The Nachos that was made for me was nothing like the other one with everything very minimal, when I asked where the Guacamole was I was told they had run out! Really at 6.30 on a Friday night! I don't think so! By the time I got my Nachos my 2 children had finished their meals so I asked for a lid so I could take it back to where we were staying! I wish I hadn't bothered as it was absolutely disgusting and ended up in the bin! Management need to have all staff work on their customer service skills as they are in desperate...
Read moreI've been converted! I never really ate all that often at GyG, but now it's strictly Zambrero! The online ordering is my favourite, Just really navigate the menu, pay and arrive at the prescribed time and food is always ready to go. Love the healthier twist that Zambrero offers and the portion sizes are great value for money when compared to the competition. Whether ordering online like I do or visiting in-store, it's fairly quick and easy and when in-store your can see the food being dished up right before you, as is done at Subway. Enough indoor seating at the Peel St store and plenty of nearby parking for picking up orders. Stupid me for taking so long to make the change, wish i did it earlier. Is it cheaper than the competition? Not exactly, but bang for buck is so much more evident and I'm happy spending the money here. Can recommend adding the signature salsa to anything for an extra healthy kick. Really like getting the nachos loaded up with all the trimmings. My wife has quite a few food intolerances and we're able to eat here with the options available....
