Location was beautiful however cannot say the same about the service that we received from the moment we walked through the door. My partner and myself had phoned prior to arriving to ask whether a booking was necessary only to be told that it would be fine to just come in as it wasn't busy.
We were greeted by the manager in a rude manner who looked us up and down with disgust and asked whether we had made a reservation. We explained that we had called prior and were advised to just come as it was not busy. She proceeded to tell us that her worker was wrong and shouldn't of told us that then walked off leaving us standing at the counter whilst she went to answer a phone call which miraculously happened to be a reservation cancellation. After slamming the phone down on that caller, she looks at us and says lucky for you, I've just had a cancellation.
Eventually when we were directed to a table and seated, she walks off yet again then comes back 5 minutes later telling us she found her 'culprit' worker that had told us the incorrect information on the phone. I wasn't interested in her personal disagreement with her staff member, my partner and I just wanted to order food!
We placed our orders and food arrived within a reasonable timeframe however, the cold vibe that we received from this lady was enough for me to lose my appetite and feel uncomfortable. My partner also asked for water on 3 seperate occasions and eventually just gave up as we were being ignored by this woman.
We finished our meals and made our way to the counter to pay only to be asked sarcastically by this same lady if we had 'enjoyed' our meals and 'if everything was good'. Being so frustrated I responded that I could of gone to McDonalds and received far better service. She then went on to defend her actions and argue that she provided great service. Will not be...
Read moreI only rate places if I'm super impressed or really really blown away that a place is still in business.
Truly awful experience! I was trying to book my wedding reception here and it was so difficult to get any information or get a hold of the owner who is the only person that everyone directed me to talk to. Tried for 3 months to have a proper discussion over the phone, meet with in person and get pricing and when I finally did get information it was just bits and pieces - menus and pricing from other functions (like their Christmas function), etc.
Meeting with their "event planner" was hopeless. She didn't know the answer to most of our questions, didn't know how tables would fit in the space, didn't know if we could use fairy lights or play music. On top of that, she was adamant that I come the morning of my wedding ( with the wedding ceremony at 11.30am) to check the room setup and make sure everything looked good!!
After my meeting with the event planner, she informed me that the reason for the delay in response was due to email technical difficulties and said she would try sending a quote and the booking confirmation within a week. If it couldn't send from the business email, she would send via personal email. ONE MONTH later I received an email which was only one and half months out from my wedding. Needless to say, I booked elsewhere and the place I booked was very smooth, had event menus and pricing, constant communication and was cheaper in the end anyway with water views.
I find this absolutely bizarre! The Gardens have a lot of weddings there and you would assume that the cafe would capitalise on that business and have a proper wedding menu, pricing and be very knowledgeable in helping to achieve their client's dream wedding.
Do not recommend wasting...
Read moreJust as well the food was lovely, because the service and attitude of one staff member was very average. We know we didn’t have a booking, but were told we could have a table, even though it was very hectic. Great. After 10 minutes our order was taken, then we waited, and waited and waited. Finally after an hour and 15 minutes my mother enquired after our drinks at least - the staff member was seen to roll her eyes at my mother’s enquiry by my husband. Our enquiry was not unwarranted, and other diners who had arrived long after us had been served and the restaurant was fast emptying. Finally, she came to explain the the system seemed to have not sent our order through to the kitchen, and when we dared to complain, she was sarcastic and said we had obviously never worked in hospitality - big mistake, my mother worked in hospitality for 20 years. The woman then had the audacity to blame us for not coming and checking with her! What! Just so she knows if she reads this, it is very poor form to blame your customers for trying to politely wait for their order. While I appreciated the free drinks and 10% discount, and the lovely apology from the young man who took my money, it will be a very long time before I darken their doors again. I am a local who has lived in the area my whole life and I have never been treated with such...
