We have been here over 15 times for my birthday as we are in Noosa the same time every year. The food was always great but we always found the service poor eg we were seated out the front where 2 tables are outside near the beach, it began to rain half way through our mains one year ( we were told they had no seating for us inside & the bar was full so we were told we had to pay our bill and go even though we hadn’t finished our meals. Another time a waiter dropped a whole plate of spaghetti marinara on my husbands lap when delivering his food, they didn’t offer to pay for the dry cleaning, the shorts were brand new CR shorts and had to be thrown out as we couldn’t get the oil marks out. Then the next few times we found we got wrong meals, wrong drinks, 3 different waiters , all who had no idea what was going on (not the experience one feels when they are dinning at a high end restaurant ) The dark haired middle aged lady who I believe is head of house was standing at the front counter so I said our booking name and she seemed very disinterested ( I think she would have preferred to be sticking pins in her eyes than working front of house due to her lack of enthusiasm) until she suddenly saw a staff member arrive who was a friend , so she disengaged us and left us standing at the front whilst she gushed and kissed and asked how Prue and True were and was the holiday great, La La La ….. all whilst we stood there and waited. It was completely unprofessional and inappropriate! Instead she should have took us to our table instead of leaving us to watch her have her social social catch up with her staff member. So we decided to after a long hiatus to go back again this recent January and try Bistro C one more time… as there is very much an IN and a firm OUT club who refuse to go to this venue due to the poor service . The crowd pleaser calamari has changed so not as nice, the food was still nice but honestly, the venue was noisy and again there was no warmth or care from the staff. Sorry, they say a fish rots from the head down… management / or owners are significantly LACKING in the etiquette, class and manners department. Sails is a much nicer experience . Sorry Bistro C, I have joined the firm club of disapproved customers who have all had poor service and are OUT… you need to listen more to your feedback and make changes as this could be a much nicer experience. Yes , you might be full so you are making money so you probably don’t care but you have a very well known reputation for the problems we have encountered and others alike have also said the same, we are definitely...
Read moreI made a reservation at this restaurant 9 days ago for my family dinner. I had read reviews suggesting that booking in advance would allow us to secure a good table.
We (5 people) arrived about 10 minutes early and mentioned our reservation at the counter. The tall man with a beard at the counter took us to a waiter. I overheard him telling the waiter about our table. At first, the waiter didn’t understand, but the man repeated his instructions and handed over cutlery and a cup.
It was at that point that I realized the man had instructed the waiter to guide us not to the reserved beach-view table (which already had 5 pepole table settings), but to a corner near the restroom, with only 4 people table settings. We were seated at the table in the corner, and the waiter carelessly placed the cutlery and a cup ( for one person) on the table. He mentioned that he could bring more chairs if needed.
I asked the waiter if we could be seated at the balcony area, but he refused. We felt very uncomfortable, and my family (including the kids) clearly knew that our table had been intentionally changed. Despite the situation, we placed our dinner order.
After a while, I saw a group of four being seated at the beach-view table with 5 people table settings already prepared. The waiter was clearing the cutlery and a cup (for one person)from that table. It was an incredibly unpleasant experience, and I couldn’t enjoy my meal. It was our first day dinner in Noosa, I didn’t want to ruin it and endured the situation to finish the meal with my family.
During dinner, we were the only Asian family in the restaurant. I’m not sure if this was an act of racial discrimination or just discrimination, but the way we were treated—so openly and obviously changing our table—left me feeling deeply offended.
We paid $250 for the meal, and while the food wasn’t bad, I will never return to this restaurant, nor would I recommend it to anyone. I was especially upset because this gave such a bad impression to my mother and younger sibling, who had arrived in Australia just two days ago from Korea.
My kids love Noosa, and we visit often during holidays. Every time we come, we’ve had wonderful experiences and memories, but this one was so unpleasant that I never want to go through it again. No one should be treated like this way.
We were looking forward to a great family meal, but it turned out to be a deeply disappointing and...
Read moreEarly dinner for our son’s 13th Birthday and we were welcomed in an energetic manner including a ‘happy birthday Legend!’ from the Maître D. Surprisingly busy for a 5.45pm seating but understandable in school holidays and the atmosphere reflected that with quite a few families in.
A simple no fuss ciabatta for a shared entrée in a beautiful corner setting for four with a great outlook served before drinks arrived, local cervezas and their refreshing frozen watermelon margaritas.
A well-appointed kids menu offered up small and upsized versions of which the later gave the youngens three battered local & fresh flathead bits with fries in generous portion sizes that kept them busy. Mains for the oldies of the eye fillet and barra were again well allocated and nicely plated. Can be scary when such a piece of red flesh is requested as med/ well but this was executed to perfection along with all of the other elements on both plates, even with complex arrangements on each. Proteins were melt in the mouth and paired beautifully with the usual suspects accompanying the steak, the horseradish cream a standout wholly complementing the jus and beef. I really was torn on the seven carded mains and the sound of the ‘special’ fish dish landing on the coral coast barramundi. I was excited about the fusion of fish roe spread with Japanese spice blend as I’d never had that combo before but it was a pure delight with the delicate fish and veges. The addition of the perfectly seared scallop with subtly sweet, but distinctive wakame added to the Japanese undertones of an Aussie classic fish meal. Sides that arrived unfortunately near the completion of mains weren’t required such was the substantial portion sizes but the gympie beans with goats curd would be a cracker with a light lunch or addition to an entrée for a more substantial feed. Needless to say the boys bottomed out the fries with ease also. No room left for a third course.
Our first stopover at Bistro C after many a holiday up from Brisbane and certainly will be on our list for future visits having redeemed our faith in the family friendly high-end Noosa culinary scene after an ordinary experience the night prior at a supposed ‘5-star Restaurant’ out the back in Noosaville on the creek.
Four and a half stars here and only missed out on supremacy due to the delivery timing of...
