We dined at this restaurant yesterday and it was one of the worst experiences we have had in terms of service.
We ordered several dishes to share, including cold dishes that appear in the menu under “starters”. And all the food arrived at the same time, (tartare with steaks at the same time). They wanted us to eat the steaks (worth $50 each) at the same time as the cold dishes. Not to mention that there was obviously no room for anything on the table, in the photo you can see how the plate is almost on the edge of my legs.
First, we talked to a waitress to find a solution, at least return the steaks because they were going to dry if we waited to eat it after the starters (in total $100 of steaks) and they told us that in the kitchen they are not very nice and they will not take it well?¿.
Afterwards we talked to what I guess was the room manager (the one who took our order) and he told us that he thought that when we told him we wanted to share we wanted everything at the same time (all four of us girls that night were waitresses). To begin with they didn't ask us how we wanted the dishes and secondly it doesn't make sense if we are going to share to send all the dishes at the same time since we are all going to have dinner at the same time.
The solution they offered us: 1 free drinks (we had just ordered a bottle of wine) or dessert which obviously after everything we ordered we didn't feel like it.
Anyway, we were hoping that at the time of the bill they would take something away from us. Evidently the restaurant is not cheap, and the truth is that we were not comfortable eating with our elbows off the table and finishing our plates quickly so that the steaks would not dry out. When the bill arrived, they had not taken anything from us and I went to talk to the manager explaining that we work also in hospitality and we know that the service has been shameful and we have to pay a bill of $300 dollars for a bad experience.
He told me that he had told his colleague to remove the drinks and that he had not listened to him. (He removed only the margaritas, not the wine). In short, the moment they make it clear to customers that there is a bad relationship between workers denotes the lack of professionalism of the company.
I do not recommend you to go to this restaurant if you do not want to eat in 5 minutes with the plate...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars, I would. Seriously, Our breakfast experience was less "brunch with friends" and more "survival of the fittest"-and I'm still not sure I made it out alive. We dropped a cool $150 between the three of us, and for what? Pre-cooked, cold bacon and RAW eggs that you could probably whip up at home for $20.
Let's talk about the eggs. I wish I could exaggerate when I say mine were literally raw in the middle. I half expected a chicken to come out and cluck at me. While I was contemplating the salmonella potential, the waitresses were too busy yapping about where they were from to notice the us trying to grab their attention at my table. Oh, and the wet chair? A delightful bonus! I tried to return my raw eggs, only for them to whisk my food away and bring back bacon and bread that I had prearranged like a two year old in the exact same formation, was just zapped in a microwave and carried it out the exact same way. It was hotter than the original meal but still tasted like it had been sitting in a dish for 3 weeks prior. Twice, we had to go on a scavenger hunt for cutlery because, apparently, asking the staff for it was just too much to handle for them to handle, They were glued to their phones, gossiping away. Sure, the atmosphere might have been lovely if I wasn't too busy worrying about food poisoning. As someone who's worked in hospitality for over 5 years, I genuinely couldn’t believe how anyone could would continue to dine here. Overall, this place is overpriced for the lowest quality food I wouldn't even dare feed to my dog. Save your money and your stomach-avoid...
Read moreWe went to Aromas for some afternoon drinks and nibbles as were treated horribly by the one staff member who was standing 'guard' at the entrance of the restaurant. I have been a loyal patron of Aroma's restaurant for over two decade now. However after yesterdays service I will sadly never be going back.
We sat down at one of the outside tables (facing the street). We went to order some drinks on the mobile app situated at the table, which wasn't working, so we asked one of the staff members if they could help us to order. Upon seeing us the female staff member growled at us for not wearing our masks and accused us of "just plonking ourselves down without waiting to be seated". We hadn't seen the 'wait to be seated' sign. We asked why we had to wear masks when we'd just seen her let two groups of patrons into the restaurant who weren't all wearing masks. She rudely told us we'd have to leave if we didn't have masks on when we sat down (we had left our masks in the car). The final outcome was that myself and my partner were rudely asked get up from the table and leave if we couldn't produce any masks. It was an unprofessional, humiliating and ultimately very upsetting experience for us both.
On a happy note, we had a much more professional and welcoming greeting over the road at Bistro C, who also required patrons to wear masks. Cleverly they had a whole stack of spare masks for those patrons who had forgot to bring theirs and happily offered them to us as we walked in and were ask if we'd like to be seated. Smiling, welcoming and accommodating staff who were a stark contrast to Aroma's...
