Overlander Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Orange

Not too sure where the other reviewers purchased their delicious five star food; but it could not possibly have been from The Overlander. I ordered takeaway from this establishment two nights ago and did not receive all that I had paid for. In addition to this what I did receive was Prawn Malabar prepared by a person too lazy to remove the prawn tails. This meant I had to delve my fingers into the saucy meal to remove them, joy! I ordered Onion Bhaji and Vegetable Pakora entrees, neither of these had any discernible taste, excepting the bouquet of stale oil and salt while eating, and which remained on the back of your tongue following. Dessert was an adventure. I had the Gulab Jamuun which, again, had a stale flavour and was quite dense rather than light and fluffy. The Malabar and Gulab containers came wrapped in clingfilm, and the entire order was ready in five minutes or less. This leads me to believe it was a long way short of fresh.

Never thought I'd associate Orange with great Indian food but you learn something new every day! Great food, would've given 5 stars had it not been for the long wait. Good distances between tables. While not many people in the restaurant, they appear to be doing a roaring takeaway trade. Still, waiting up to half an hour between courses was a bit long.

Need to give a shout out for the kid's menu. The serving size of the kid's menu is super generous, and for the price, amazing value (approx $10 with juice and ice cream). Our kids had butter chicken with rice, and chicken nuggets with chips. Thought the latter was rather out of place in an Indian restaurant but came to appreciate the 'genius' behind it given our younger one can't really tolerate spicy food and is allergic to all nuts. Essentially happy campers all round, especially when they saw the triple scoops of ice cream at the end!

Worst India restaurant in Orange. Very rude staff. We were driving from Sydney ordered 45 mins prior on menulog.. restaurant changed time by adding 15 mins to the order pick up, when we reached, the order still wasn’t ready, since it was delayed we requested the restaurant we will have it at the restaurant instead of the pickup the restaurant denied saying the charges are different than menulog so we cannot allow and confirmed the food is already packed. We were ready to pay the difference amount as well. After saying it’s packed the food is still not ready and once more we are waiting 15 mins for our order at the restaurant “which is half empty” !
