Absolutely blown away. We booked here last minute on our trip to the hunter valley. We walked in and were greeted by 3 or 4 friendly staff on the way to our table which was already set out with high chair, kid friendly cups and colouring in books for our kids. The staff immediately came and asked for drinks orders and if we wanted to get the kids food underway (if you’re a parent you know how important this is). Once that was done they came back and delivered the drinks and not long after the kids food arrived. It is abundantly clear that this team at blaxland are cohesive and well run. All food and drinks were timed impeccably and the kids were never for want while the team brought our entrees out. My wife and I split the scallops and also the taco special which were a knock out and I’d highly recommend. We dined on Wednesday which was $30 sirloin night. Back home in Brisbane if you got a $30 sirloin you’d expect it to not be cooked to order and not of good quality with average sides. This steak was cooked to perfection, a fantastic cut of meat. The unique sauces (cowboy butter and hot honey ranch) they provide also really upped the game setting this steak house head and shoulders above anything I’d experienced in years.

As someone who travels frequently and dines out a lot I believe Blaxland is arguably one of the best run establishments in Australia. The staff are incredible and the chefs are clearly exceptional. Please do yourself a favour and stop in here if you want a great dining experience. We...

For the restaurant we had the chicken burger and Blaxland burger with the donut dessert. The "burgers" were disgusting. The chicken was too spicy to enjoy it with no slaw to speak of in either - the waffles were dry the coating of the chicken was just dumped on the plate like they were using it as a display? The bottom burger of the Blaxland was supposed to be red but was white & soggy completely covered in sauce that was spread across most of whole of the plastic plate so u couldn't even see it existed. We saw other patrons attempting to cut through steaks & lamb shanks and heard others complaining about the heat of the chicken burger too - it was not mentioned in the menu as it should have been. The donut stack was nice but nothing special and definitely not enough to make up for the meal we went there to enjoy. This restaurant has gone downhill very recently. It's like they're trying to be quirky but they're just failing miserably. Our order was actually forgotten about altogether and we waited over an hr while others dined before us. Also what's with all the 5star reviews yet complaining about your expensive steaks? There's so many dodgy reviews here they're obviously not real. The best part of the place is the kind & understanding waitress who we did actually complain to which we've never done in our lives before. I felt sorry for her being surrounded by such poor food. It really was disgusting and has given us both stomach aches still this morning and it was lunch...

We came here last week for dinner. The ambiance of this restaurant was lovely esoecially the fire burning to keep the area warm in winter. Lighting was pretty with the ferry lights around the restaurant. The staff were tentative to our order. We were there at 6pm as it was totally booked out and it just got budier. We were lucky as we were there early for parking. Plenty of parking also. Once we ordered it took around 15 to 20 mins for our entres to come out. Then the rest of our order just flowed afterards. We also ordered dessert to go as they needed our table due to us booking late although able to sit in comfort to eat our meal. I had a chicken dish with herb crumbs ,I think the chef was over zealous with the crumbs as I couldnt see the chicken in the frying pan when delivered to the table. But tasted nice. All other meals that our hubbies chose were fine. My daughter asked for a med/to well done steak she started eating it but found it was raw on the inside, once it was mentioned they were great to ask if she wanted another one she chose not to. So it was taken off our bill. My other suggestion is to review the apple dessert dish. It didnt taste very nice and the pastry was like eating a dry hard cardboard. It looked like a deconstructed dessert not what I expected. Over all it was a memorable evening out coming from Sydney. We didnt stay there we were only visiting the restaurant with family. Dollar Value we spent $560 for 4 of us plus our 3 yr old...

A true disappointment, we’ve eaten here on many occasions and the food has slowly been declining from the first time we went in 2019. This time we had a booking on Christmas Eve the restaurant was not busy, we ordered entrees: Salt and peppered squid, Garlic Prawns, Mains: Wagyu steak and a Pulled lamb pot pie, I usually stay away from steaks when I eat out but being the Blaxland inn, they are renown for their steaks and I normally don’t order a $48 steak but the waiter really talked it up. Entrees: The garlic prawns were a total show stopper! Flawless. The salt and pepper squid was a bit soggy due to it being plated directly on top of the mango salad, it was okay to eat but again like I said soggy. The lamb pot pie was not very nice, it was very watery the gravy/ sauce was watered down and had no flavour. We didnt eat it. The $48 wagyu was burnt and overcooked, it was dry Af .. I forced myself to eat it because it was getting late and I wanted to go home. All in all, the waiter did ask if I wanted another steak but I really could be bothered waiting around. It appeared the chef was having a rough day, the other wait staff took the two red wines off the bill, which I thought was nice, but truly, I feel very sad, the blaxland inn was my go to in the hunter. I hope they make the effort not to plate this sort of food again.
