For this experience, I would rate ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Went during weekdays sometime last week and was amazed too see so many people ( clear indication that restaurant must have been doing well)
Big fan of Thai cuisine and Japanese Cuisine, so ended up ordering alot of food. Staff was talented and friendly, which adds to the vibe.
Salmon Carpaccio : Omg, what a beautiful preparation of thinly cut salmon with japanese ginger dressing. Takes the entire dish to next level ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Chicken Satay : Beautiful chicken skewers with a generous drizzle of tomato based sauce, had nuts too, tasted pretty good ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thai Fish Cake : Simply outstanding, beautiful mix of fish meat and other herbs, shallow fried to perfection and accompanying sauce just makes it so unreal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Teppanyaki Mixed Seafood : Mix seafood cooked platter had a near miss on the menu description as it wasn't sizzling at all, wouldn't recommend this dish unless Chefs learn how to make teppanyaki or servers should serve straight up when it's sizzling (very dissapointed on this) ⭐⭐
Terriyaki Barramundi : Fish grilled well and cooked beautiful but unfortunately that was spoiled by the taste of thick consistency of extra sweet teri yaki sauce which was off the hook. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Stir Fried Garlic beef with pepper : Fantastic saving trail in main course, beef was cooked delicately with all juices sealed and peppery garlicy sauce was spot on, fantastic dish and is a must ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Penang Duck Curry : Duck lovers alert, if you are after Velvet texture of sauce with good slice of roasted duck, then put your money in here and you will get masterpiece, simply outstanding ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
They had decent wine in offering, so we had Chardonnay and Moscato's, suited good taste for the course alongside some Beers.
Highly Recommended to try this place and try the food and...
Read moreOishi is a must-try if you are in or visiting Hunter Valley. It is recommended that you book a table in advance, as the restaurant gets very busy with locals and regular customers who frequent often for the good food and kind staff. We were a group of six who did not make a booking but were still able to secure a spot with the staff who were able to accommodate.
The outdoor area boasted a beautiful seating arrangement with fairy lights overlooking a green landscape. However, we sat indoors due to the cold weather, which provided a warm and inviting experience.
For our entrees, our group ordered the vegetarian spring rolls and mixed sushi and sashimi platter. The spring rolls were piping hot and perfectly crispy on the outside, with the ingredients tasting very fresh. The mixed sushi and sashimi platter was overall okay, with the fish being fresh but not much of a standout dish. For our mains, we ordered a variety of dishes, although the standouts were definitely the pad thai, pad see ew, and seafood hot plate. The presentation of all dishes was excellent, with generous portions of food and an incredible taste in each bite. All of our food came out very promptly, which we were very pleased with.
Overall, our group rated this restaurant a 7 out of 10. The price per person was very reasonable, and the staff made sure we were well...
Read moreWe had dinner at the Oishii Jap & Thai Restaurant. Located in a huge compound, this place had lots of room. Ceilings are high and decor simple yet pleasant.
We ordered their teppan yaki seafood set and gyoza. The set came on a small hotplate consisting of scallop, prawn, ling fish, a piece of mussel and veg which were all already cooked. So it wasn't really the true sense of Teppanyaki where the chef cooks in front of you on a hot grill. But food was generallyl quite tasty and well done.
Gyoza on the other hand was a little underwhelming. These fried dumplings were miserably skinny, lacked substance and tasted mediocre.
The staff were pretty good. They are young and accommodating speaking proper English even though they are Thais.
And our orders did arrive on time and hot.
Prices were not unreasonable, depending what you order. Some of the items on the menu may be a little on the high side. But generally, if you are into Japanese sort of food in the middle of Hunter Valley, you'd have to pay for it.
Coming here was not difficult. Located quite near to the Hunter Valley Gardens, the huge ground that they are located makes it easy to spot Parking was super friendly too,...
