Updated 23 June I will add one more comment and will probably won't read anymore replies coming from this establishment. I think the issue is that they cannot take a negative feedback. You can keep saying re cctv and what your staff says - but we were there and we are the ones who knows what really happened and how the staff made us feel when we were dining. There is also no need to attack me personally saying I am up for free stuff. Because that is sooo unprofessional. Criticising me will not add stars to the rating of your restaurant. Btw, having mentioned the other places wherein they gave good service. You said, they also have bad reviews. I checked their star ratings and all are 4 and above- definitely higher than your restaurant. Thank you again for reading. And may your business flourish and have more customers.
22 June I had to edit this review in response to the reply of the owner. I didn't say staff was rude. I said unfriendly and unwelcoming. Rude and unfriendly was completely different thing. My review was not wrong. And thank you for correcting me, yeah, Pokolbin is not in Sydney but still in Australia. Wow, no wonder that star rating was only 3.9. Owner was depending the staff for a substandard service. Again, I didn't say staff was rude. I said unfriendly and unwelcoming. We dined it a blaxland inn, Ronnie's , oishii, pines, pescara. - all of the staff were amazingly friendly. So our expectation on our last day at Pokolbin was a little high having experienced very friendly service the past 3 days. Thanks
My initial review below: We are not staying in house and staying in another hotel nearby. We wanted to try another place for breakfast since we saw the signage outside saying " serving Danes Coffee". Food was great but the staff was unfriendly. We only ordered 2 dishes and 2 latte and we bought a soda from the reception as the staff said they do not serve soda. I think she didn't like that we only ordered 2 dishes. we are a family of 3. Husband, wife and 1 child. We did not want to order 3 dishes thinking we might not be able to finish it. The restaurant was empty, because they were almost clearing breakfast buffet when we came. But the staff made it clear by the way she acted and the way she talk that she was unhappy with us. She even said "I am not going to give you sharing plate" - we did not even ask for a sharing plate. It made us feel so unwelcome. Was quite surprised because this is the first time in Sydney that we found such unfriendly and unwelcoming staff. The ambience of the cafe and the inn itself...
Read moreOur experience here at Blanchies was the only downside to our stay at Leisure Inn. After waiting 30 minutes for our coffees and meals, I was baffled at how the waffles were both doughy and burnt all at the same time..as well as being incredibly dry? When my daughter was unable to eat the waffles due to the texture, my mother in law offered her some of her pancakes. She approached staff asking for a second plate to put some of the pancakes on and was told "we dont do share plates". When I reapproached them stating the situation that I was met with and the reason for wanting another plate the response was not welcoming or understanding at all, it was only when I said Id go get a plate from our room that one from the kitchen was produced, and I dont think the plate we were given could have been any smaller. The hot chocolate literally left a sick taste in our mouths. The toast given for the eggs benedict was unbuttered (there was no asking if I wanted it buttered or not, nor was any supplied. Luckily there was some left over from other meals ordered at our table for me to use, as I am sure had I requested some I would have been met with more rudeness). Not to mention the questionable OH+S practices with a staff member with untied hair in the kitchen. Absolutely do not recommend. If you are staying at the Leisure Inn, take your own breakfast or...
Read moreA Truly Special Experience at Blanchies
My partner and I had the pleasure of staying in Pokolbin last weekend, and we made sure to visit Blanchies for their famous gluten-free pancakes. Unfortunately, due to no fault of the staff, the supply truck hadn't arrived with the necessary ingredients on Saturday morning. I opted for another dish from the menu—a gluten-free tradie roll that was, hands down, the best I've ever had!
Before we left, I mentioned that we'd be back the following morning for breakfast. To my delight, when we returned, the chef had gone above and beyond, personally sourcing the ingredients to make sure we could enjoy those famous pancakes. And they truly lived up to the hype—absolutely delicious!
To top off an already wonderful experience, I shared the exciting news that I had just gotten engaged the night before, and the team surprised me with a thoughtful handwritten card congratulating us. It was such a kind and heartfelt gesture.
I highly recommend Blanchies to anyone looking for delicious gluten-free food in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with amazing staff. There’s so much more on the menu I can’t wait to try, and we’ll definitely be back on our next visit to Pokolbin. The coffee was also the best we had from around the...
