Lust from a far is a lust gone too fast. $$$ plus 10% on the weekends? Really Pancake Place? I have gone passed many a times with lust for the past few years but never had the chance of dinning until Mother's Day. I feel like I made a poor choice. Even when asking for a coffee (which is usually a hot beverage) you showed me what you really give, luke warm bitterness when dealing with small groups of people and I probably should have skulled it before my meal arrived instead of waiting to have my drink with my meal. There should be no need for me to ask you specifically for a hot beverage that should already be served hot. One issue that was had was we got told that no reservation was needed and low and be hold we rock up for a nice dinning exsperience and there is reserved tables bigger than what we wanted. So we get seated outside, well really we all just stood around awkwardly at the door as we had to wait for two tables to get put together while also getting looked at annoyed by other staff members for having the said issue. Never mind that, I helped move the table myself since only one staff member was available yet there was three staff members involved in the 'where to sit process' and we all sat down to a very nice menu. One star for pancake place. So many choices on the menu yet what to get? Oh wait even after I order my 'light bites' to save room for actual pancakes I was stung by the 'I heard what you wanted and wrote it down but I'm going to give you a main meal with an even higher price anyway and charge like four bucks extra, is that cool?' No, no that is not cool. So no pancakes for me apparently. I must say the fruit/salad was nice, looked great, well if it had maybe a cheap apple it would have been better instead I get mash potato on my watermelon. Why Pancake Place? Let me explain something, if you have a crepe in the middle and your fruit and salad on one side, what is on the other side? Nothing! Maybe make a fruit side and a salad side so i dont pick up what looks like apple but tastes like raw mushroom and is mistakenly a raddish. Yes I understand your thinking, Mash potato? We don't serve watermelon on a bed of mash potato.... Oh wait but Pancake Place that is what you did, a bacon and potato crepe that was most definitely not the diced potato metioned on the menu. Okay I moved on from it so that I could just enjoy my crepe instead of worrying about how many people actually got what they ordered. The bird obbsession and stained glass on the inside of the building is very nice, cluttered but colourful which is a lot different to other places. One star for pancake place. You were successful for catching the childrens eyes so that they keep insisting to go there. One more star for Pancake Place, childrens meals are cheap, and lovabale even though its just a pancake with some ice cream and whatever amount of topping you choose that day. So inevitably you will have lots of children about with parents cringing when they get the receipt for their own meals. One mediocre coffee and half a plate of food shouldn't really equal $30 should it? As of the 10% on a weekend, im sorry, what is that even for because the only staff I saw was three teenagers, I believe that it is utterly rediculous that you give me such a poor experience and then plused 10% onto my order. please stop taking advantage of people and earn your 10% because if the experience was worth it I wouldn't feel like I just got ripped off. 3 stars because that was all I...

The staff took our order wrong, which is fine - we fixed it up when repeated back to us. While we waited for our coffee, new patrons came and sat down, ordered coffee and some even received their coffee before the first of ours came. When our first 2 (out of 4) coffees arrived, so did 2 of our 4 meals. We received no cutlery and had to ask several times to get some (not a self service option). Eventually our final 2 meals came. The remaining 2 coffees did not however. Whilst other patrons (who arrived much later than us) continued to get their coffees, the 3rd of 4 coffees arrived. Finally when a table next to us had received all of their despite the lager order, we approached the counter and checked on ours. It had only just been made, all this after our 4 meals were complete and other 3 coffees finished.
When we wanted to leave and pay, we were unable to pay at the counter, and advised to wait for the staff member with the handheld machine to come to us. Well this just meant more waiting, more people served in the wrong order of when they wanted to leave and pay.
Food - great. Service, attention to detail - quite poor.
For me, the good food didn’t not make up for the...
Read moreVisiting Port Macquarie for weekend. Wanted to grab a bite to eat before going to see a movie. Pancake Place is perfectly located to grab customers right on corner. We thought we'd grab brunch but missed the brekky menu so we had to order from main meals menu. The menu had pictures of meals besides them and they looked a bit odd in presentation. We were now seated and hungry so we were keen to order. The staff were very friendly. We were given table service -ordering right through to payment of our meals. The wait for meals was a bit lengthy. Our bread rolls came out about 20 minutes before meals and coffees 10 minutes apart from each other. The savoury crepes were tasty but the presentation and what was served was extremely odd. Very childlike. The side salad had a piece of zuchini in it along with one piece of watermelon, pineapple, a green grape, a purple grape, half a strawberry, a segment of mandarine, a tinned peach, slither of kiwi fruit and about 4 pretzels scattered on top. It was the quirkiest meal I have ever eaten from a cafe or restaurant. Overall food was tasty, the staff were friendly but unless it was the last place left to eat on the planet I'd never recommend to...
