This stay was disappointing compared to our previous stay. The staff were really nice, especially the ladies at the front desk when we checked in. We really appreciated the upgrade to a bigger room and the chilled fruit plate left in the fridge for us. Unfortunately, the bar/restaurant was very disappointing. We went to have a drink at happy hour. We sat there for a few minutes, then as no one was around we spoke to the lady at front desk, who went to check for us. She said they were there, so we went and sat down again. After some more waiting we were finally served. We were then given a menu to look at. This menu was different to the room service menu in our room, so we couldn't order what we were going to. We noticed that the room service menu was removed from our room the next day but not replaced. The second night we went down again for a happy hour drink. I asked for our drinks and then sat down. While waiting we were asked if we were ready to order food. I told the server we didn't have menus and that we were waiting for our drinks first. She walked off and eventually we got our drinks, but I noticed on the bill that they were at the full price. When we were ordering food, the server had a different menu to the one we had. She told us that it was new and was starting on Tuesday. The first morning breakfast was a buffet. On the second morning we were given a menu to order off. This didn't have the meals we usually have for breakfast. When we were asked if we wanted a second drink the server looked at the glass my orange juice had come in and said that's very small. My next glass came in a large Coke glass. When the server gave my wife her tea she asked if we wanted it charged to our room. We have never been charged for tea or orange juice when we were having breakfast. They had taken it off our invoice when we checked out. The glass that my first juice came in was the same size glass that was with the juices at the buffet the day before. The food we had was very good. Hopefully this will improve when the change of restaurant is final. One staff member, when I mentioned the problems, we had told us that the staff don't know what is happening. The couch and one of the blinds in our room had marks on them. The bathroom floor was dirty. I used the bathmat to wipe up some water that had leaked from the shower. This left the bathmat with dirty marks on it. I left it crumpled on the floor with the marks showing but it was still there we got back in...

Stayed a night in July due to Qantas flight cancellation. This was at the end of a work trip. It was a busy evening due to cancelled flights and school holidays. Good location close to centre of town and shops. There are car spots outside for pick-up/drop off and taxis. Small reception area. Often may need to wait in queue. Staff are polite and efficient.|Key to tap to gain access to the door is temperamental- doesn’t always work well. Room is reasonably spacious (it’s all subjective, isn’t it? Others have said it’s small). I got a queen room on level 1. Not the greatest location but probably one of their few remaining vacant rooms. Convenient in that I don’t need to wait for the lift. Despite being on 1st floor and near reception, the walls are great at being sound-proof. Being on 1st (ground) floor also meant no views from balcony- just high fence and wall. The balcony opens to the terrace- tables and chairs for patrons of the restaurant? And pool access.|Room itself is clean, tidy, all the usual amenities- tea/coffee/kettle, cups, mini bar fridge, ironing board, hair dryer. Comfortable bed with an assortment of pillows (different firmness and height). Extra pillows and blankets in the cupboard. There’s a desk and 2 chairs, lounge chair. Quality block-out curtains.|Bathroom has hand wash, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, body wash in large pump pack. These products are heavily perfumed, as is the room itself (and reception/whole building?), which I wasn’t fond of (indoor air-pollution often times is worse than outdoor air-pollution). Large TV with no Netflix (unless you log in your own account) but has pre-loaded movies, many of which are recent. Unfortunately the TV settings (eg brightness) can’t be changed.|Comfortable shower. Wardrobe with clothes hangers. Full-length mirror (surprisingly not always provided in accommodations).|There were plenty of power points – at least 10. Desk lamp, bedside lamps, wall lights, ceiling lights. I usually prefer dim lighting at night, so pay attention to this and leave such remarks.|I ordered room service and the meal was delivered promptly. $5 service fee applies in addition to the costs.|I had no issues with wifi. As the flight next day is late, I asked for a late check-out and was offered 11am.|Overall, pleasant experience. Just wish the place smelt of fresh air instead of air-fresheners/perfume. To open leave the balcony door open would’ve been too cold...

1st time to Port Macquarie and feel really welcomed by Kylie at Mercure Centro. Her smile, her tone and body language show what a kind person she is. She really fits in this hospitality industry. Not everyone can do what she does. *just in case I misspelled Kylie's name, I checked in on Monday, Sept 29 around 5pm, so management can check the schedule or cctv if needed.

Overall, for me staying in Mercure Centro is a great value for my money and time. I recommend to stay here when visiting Port Macquarie, because of these reasons 👇🏻

LOCATION Strategic and easy to find using Google Maps. Signage big and clear, as you can see in one of the photos. Walking distance to shopping center, foods, and coastal walk.

PARKING Lots of parking space in front of the hotel and theres also a parking building, which I get a complimentary parking from Kylie, because of my Gold membership.

HOTEL BUILDING Hotel lobby, simple and clean. Idk if its just renovated, because i read some reviews that state this Mercure looks old or smelly, but not for me. Yes, its not a brand new and modern building. In my opinion, they successfully optimize what they have by keeping it clean and fresh. *we stay on 4th floor, btw.

ROOM Mini fridge, ironing board, kettle, hair dryer, body wash and shampoo all available. Certain amenities you should ask the receptionist.

Queen Room w/ Balcony is spacious, theres a sofa and table w/ 2 chairs inside, plus coffee table w/ 2 chairs in the balcony

Air conditioner and hot water in shower, working just fine. But for a few times at the beginning, the toilet flush water is brown, idk if its dirty or its some kind of bathroom/toilet care stuff. Please check.

General power plug in Australia, no usb port. No big deal.

One thing i would suggest to Mercure about the room is a hole in the door to see whos in front of the room. For me, makes me feel safer.

Last but not least, also thanks to Carla who responded to my email. I asked Mercure in my email to set the King Room into Twin Beds and also inform about my wedding anniversary trip.

Thank you for the experience, Mercure...

Overall 2.5 ⭐️ Let's talk about positive first- 1. Freindly welcome by the reception, smooth check-in process 2. Conveniently located in the heart of the town (Almost) Close proximity of restaurants and mall. 3. Rooms were clean but, bit smaller for family of 4 and the sofa bed was uncomfortable even for kids. Now let's talk about issues that they may not know exists.... 1. Restaurant staff was below average. Either they were not the right people or they got told by management otherwise. 2. Breakfast was served cold and not enough. The pictures were taken 9am and most things were empty and or cold. 3. After debated to the waitresses about cold and not enough breakfast we got told that that's all they have and not re-filling. 4. So, we ordered a full omelette with ham and avocado on toast as you can see from the photos the omelette only have spring onions and some spinach leaves despite ordering full omelette with ham, other thing we ordered was avocado on toast as you can see that, there's only bit of avocado on one toast and not on both!! Just to let you know that the IGA next door was selling avocado 2 for $3. 5. Not only that, we have to wait for very long time for them to serve us the food. We have to remind them about our order. (They said they were busy but, they were actually cleaning the kitchen) 6. Kitchen staff was blaming the chef and chef was blaming wait staff, they're just don't know what is going on around them. Not switched on. We stayed there for 3 nights and similar experience every morning. Didn't want to try either lunch or dinner after that experience. I'm not sure whatsoever is going on there, but we had very average experience there.

I have stayed at the Mercure several times and it never fails to impress. The location is perfect with easy access to the water, the shops and restaurants. On site there is a great little bar/restaurant although I found their prices a little on the high side. Instead, I walked into town and enjoyed another favourite: Makimoto Japanese Cuisine. Breakfast wasn't huge but what was there was well done and started early (6:30) which is important for workers. The room was generously proportioned and the verandah overlooking the park across the road was a bonus. (Some rooms face onto the internal area with the pool which I wouldn't want but that's just me.) The bathroom was a little tired. The grout could do with a refresh and the bathroom door annoyingly kept swinging closed but teeny tiny complaints set against a great hotel with many ticks in many boxes. Will always go here when I'm in Port Macquarie. Oh! And fresh milk in the fridge is ALWAYS appreciate with a nice tea selection (even a chocolate) for a DIY tea in-room. Shame there weren't a few biscuits to go with. Maybe next time.
