We go to Maki Moto regularly and always have the same meal because it has been, up until now, delicious. Our Teriyaki Chicken was disgusting. The salad was 1/2 the normal size. The chicken was dry, tasteless and with no sauce. We asked where the sauce was and were told they have changed their recipe. The steamed rice was really crap as well, dry and probably reheated. Nothing like we normally receive. In past meals this dish was divine beyond words, succulent chicken marinated with sauce on top, fresh salad with generous serving and the rice was always fluffy and really good. We always looked forward to going to Maki Moto and always had excellent meals. I returned my horrible excuse of a meal but my partner was so hungry he ate his and didn't enjoy it at all. The next day he has suffered extreme diarrhoea and is convinced it was the revolting meal from night before. I had 1 mouthful, sent it back, went home and had toast. Lucky for me. The staff could not have been less interested. We also had the tempura prawns as entree and this was good but the size of prawns was 1/2 what they usually are. We have been going to this restaurant for about 6 years and will not return. Be Warned. It used to be good but not any more, cost cutting with food does not work. I had to reduce the rating on service and atmosphere to be able to give the meal 1 star. I would actually prefer to give...
Read morebest sushi in port macquarie and the only one that has perfected the art of sashimi, none of the other places in town compare alone , although I wish it did improve it with more variety like some of the other places do and they could improve upon their competitors to show them how it's done like with their sushi rolls and other side dishes need expanding upon , besides that I asked for matcha green tea and was surprised they don't serve it at a Japanese restaurant even though it was in there Japanese green tea latte which was weird and finally deserts all they really had was ice cream so their dessert menu could also expand with Japanese treats like Mochi & Wagashi but their food all in all is good the staff are friendly but don't seem to understand some things but thats ok getting their attention is hard if you need something more like cutlery for those without the fine motor skills for chop sticks you should keep both on the table, so really their almost perfect just need...
Read moreA couple of months ago, we visited Port Macquarie. Not many options to choose for the dinner as most of shops didn't seem to operate on Sunday night. But found a Japanese restaurant in the middle of main street. Without doubt, we went in there. We have ordered a rainbow roll with sashimi boat and sake. We spent almost $200 just for me and my husband. We asked for a little bit of more ginger and gobsmacked being ripped off $2 for the additional ginger which never happens in Sydney. Foods were below than average with the so much bland of sauces (mysterious taste). Sashimi wasn't fresh enough compare to other seafood restaurants in Port Macquarie. So greed with napkins supply. Never forget when the shop owner always yelling by "Cash or Card" whenever customer is about to make a payment. Paying cash doesn't provide any discount at all - I was hoping .20cent could be off from the receipt. Anyway, not recommendable to my sysdney friend who looking for Port Macquarie...
