We go to Maki Moto regularly and always have the same meal because it has been, up until now, delicious. Our Teriyaki Chicken was disgusting. The salad was 1/2 the normal size. The chicken was dry, tasteless and with no sauce. We asked where the sauce was and were told they have changed their recipe. The steamed rice was really crap as well, dry and probably reheated. Nothing like we normally receive. In past meals this dish was divine beyond words, succulent chicken marinated with sauce on top, fresh salad with generous serving and the rice was always fluffy and really good. We always looked forward to going to Maki Moto and always had excellent meals. I returned my horrible excuse of a meal but my partner was so hungry he ate his and didn't enjoy it at all. The next day he has suffered extreme diarrhoea and is convinced it was the revolting meal from night before. I had 1 mouthful, sent it back, went home and had toast. Lucky for me. The staff could not have been less interested. We also had the tempura prawns as entree and this was good but the size of prawns was 1/2 what they usually are. We have been going to this restaurant for about 6 years and will not return. Be Warned. It used to be good but not any more, cost cutting with food does not work. I had to reduce the rating on service and atmosphere to be able to give the meal 1 star. I would actually prefer to give...

best sushi in port macquarie and the only one that has perfected the art of sashimi, none of the other places in town compare alone , although I wish it did improve it with more variety like some of the other places do and they could improve upon their competitors to show them how it's done like with their sushi rolls and other side dishes need expanding upon , besides that I asked for matcha green tea and was surprised they don't serve it at a Japanese restaurant even though it was in there Japanese green tea latte which was weird and finally deserts all they really had was ice cream so their dessert menu could also expand with Japanese treats like Mochi & Wagashi but their food all in all is good the staff are friendly but don't seem to understand some things but thats ok getting their attention is hard if you need something more like cutlery for those without the fine motor skills for chop sticks you should keep both on the table, so really their almost perfect just need...

A couple of months ago, we visited Port Macquarie. Not many options to choose for the dinner as most of shops didn't seem to operate on Sunday night. But found a Japanese restaurant in the middle of main street. Without doubt, we went in there. We have ordered a rainbow roll with sashimi boat and sake. We spent almost $200 just for me and my husband. We asked for a little bit of more ginger and gobsmacked being ripped off $2 for the additional ginger which never happens in Sydney. Foods were below than average with the so much bland of sauces (mysterious taste). Sashimi wasn't fresh enough compare to other seafood restaurants in Port Macquarie. So greed with napkins supply. Never forget when the shop owner always yelling by "Cash or Card" whenever customer is about to make a payment. Paying cash doesn't provide any discount at all - I was hoping .20cent could be off from the receipt. Anyway, not recommendable to my sysdney friend who looking for Port Macquarie...

It's our second time trying this restaurant. Give it another try this year, hoping it was better than last year. We avoided raw seafood this year. ( don't want to elaborate further..hair nets will be good for kitchen stuff) We tried all cooked food this year, Tempura udon, baby sushi, egg sushi and Terriyaki chicken. Terriyaki was extremely salty and we have to deep it in our soup to blend it out to eat. We were surprised 2 nagari rolls and baby rolls came out last and have to chase the order, or they have missed the order given the restaurant was closed to empty. Tempura was the best. It was crispy and hot on arrival. We were ask to sit on bar stools when the sitting have close to half empty restaurant. I think the restaurant focus more on takeaway than sit down and dine customer.

I've been to my fair share of japanese restaurants, but this one takes the cakes. Let's first talk about taste , I've made better japanese curry at home! The curry rice was in a bowl, so the rice was saturated in curry sauce, making it even worse to eat texture wise. In sydney, I've only seen this dish placed on a plate... secondly, value i don't mind paying for good food, but close to $20 for a tiny bowl of curry rice with 3 tiny pieces of fried chicken. Not my type of value. The service was ok but besides that, that's about it. I feel for the locals around here, they don't have a better option. Won't be coming back on my pitstops meals to and back from surfers.....

Really fresh sushi and sashimi and such good value. The chef's best sushi and sashimi is such a hit. The scampi and oysters seem like they were caught on the day and the slices of sashimi were very thick. The salmon was nice and fatty and the aburi sushi was to my liking. The Udon had a good bonito flavour to it, and the tempura was very crunchy and not at all oily. Washed down with some nice sake. This place is very Covid safe. Went back in Jan-21, still stunning had the sashimi deluxe (very thick cuts and all very fresh) and the Udon set. Really busy so make sure you book! Went back in Apr-21 for lunch, still fresh, awesome and we'll priced
