Staple Eatery and Deli — Restaurant in Portarlington

Absolutely terrible. I always like to support local business so tried this deli 3 times but every time it’s been more than disappointing. Today was the last straw. Went in at 9.30 for a ham and salad roll and was told they don’t make rolls until 11 o’clock. There was no one sitting down at the tables, only a few people getting coffee. Went back at 11 o’clock, “We don’t make ham and salad rolls, only salami or pork with salad.” So I just asked for plain salad roll. Nope, they don’t do that either. (This is a deli that sells sliced ham!) I gave up and ordered the salami and salad. It was terrible! We threw half the salad out because it was unrecognisable…..I think maybe it was onions??? The roll was stale, had obviously been thawed out this morning. We will never be back. Save your money, go to the bakehouse, it’s much better and the staff actually work, they don’t stand around...

Walked past this place earlier this afternoon and grabbed a coffee that was great. Decided to make a booking for dinner later that night. We ordered the wood oven baked Camembert for entree that was enjoyable. Then for mains we ordered Mr P staple signature and Serrano pizzas. The pizzas looked amazing and were delicious. The owner came by to our table for a chat, he has only been open for a couple of months. If you are looking for a place to eat dinner in Portarlington then drop by and give this place a try. And when I’m back at Portarlington I’ll make sure to return for dinner and look at what the deli has to offer. Thanks Guys the service and...

Although I don't usually leave reviews, I felt compelled to share our recent experience. Upon entering the cafe, my wife and I were acknowledged with eye contact but not greeted. After waiting for a minute, my wife started browsing the cheese selection while I waited to be served. Another minute passed before my wife asked if we could sit a table. That's when the staff member at the counter finally acknowledged us and informed its order-at-the-front counter service. I hope the team is able to take the feedback on board and consider welcoming each person as they initially enter the shop - as we definitely didn’t...
