I'll get straight to the point. This is by far the worst food establishment I have ever been to. I know McDonalds is not a fine dining establishment, but even allowing for the fact that it's fast food staffed mainly by young people who are most likely very inexperienced, I have real concerns over the service and food hygiene standards at the Portland store. I waited at the counter to be served behind 2 other people, but the two staff (one appeared to be a manager) ignored us while they argued about how to fix something that wasn't working. Then a customer was called to collect his order and was told that something he had ordered and paid for wasn't available. The staff member said it was embarrasing that the item was still on the menu, and tried to negotiate a substitute item. Eventually the customer was given a refund. Meanwhile the 2 people in front of me still had not even been acknowledged, let alone had their order taken. Since nobody was taking orders, I decided to try using the instore touchscreen to place my order, but on completion there was an error message that the payment terminal wasn't working so I had to pay at the counter when I collected my order. So I took my ticket and waited near the counter. The 2 customers who had been in front of me were still waiting to order. Then the first customer finally called out "Is anyone serving here?", and a staff member (seemingly annoyed) responded with "What do you need?" Meanwhile my wife went to use the toilet, but returned and said that the female toilet was disgustingly filthy. She also tried the toilet with the baby change facility, but it was just as bad. So I'm still waiting for my order, and watching the staff making up orders for drive through customers. I observed 2 different staff members using the metal scoop to fill the fries containers, and some of the excess fries spilled out and fell into the employees' hand which was cupped underneath the fries containers. The employees just dropped the excess fries back into the hopper with the rest of the fries. Neither were wearing gloves. I had been waiting over 20 minutes and seen enough, so I walked out without my order. This store needs a visit from the health department, a training program for employees, and proper supervision by the management. Came home to notice these things. Called the manager Jo, and told her, her first response was “and?” We asked if we could get these later in the day. She said the only thing she could give us is the wrap and the sauces on their own.
Why would we want the sauces on its own?
Jo was extremely rude, didn’t want to believe us, and made it out like we were lying. As if we have the time to lie. We are a family of 4 who both work full time and just got back home from taking our starving kids to their swimming lessons. Massive inconvenience to go back straight away, plus we have visitors coming. Jo didn’t apologise nor sympathised. She didn’t believe us about the burgers and was only willing to give us our wrap and the sauces on its own. We should have been compensated with replacements for all the items that were made wrong. This is what any other normal person would do, and pretty sure under consumer affairs guidelines that should have been the case.
After being so rude and unapologetic, no recognition that her staff did the wrong thing at all. She knew I wasn’t happy, She says hope you have a lovely day in a very condescending attitude and hung up on me. I am unsure why she is in customer service. Read moreI never had a pleasant experience with this Maccas. Unfortunately, it’s the only one in town and the only one that closes late so that leaves most of us no choice. We ordered tonight around 10:30pm and was told that the grill is off and can only order from the fryer. It’s fine. I ordered thru app . They told us to wait in the waiting bay and we were waiting for more than 15 mins. It is past 11pm already, we drove back to the drive thru window and they gave us our bag. The food was already stale, no one bothered to hand it to us in the waiting bay. I understand that you boys are rushing to go home but im just sick and tired of this Maccas in Portland. You hired substandard employees who dont care about basics. The other day, first window operator (guy on a morning shift) was just so rude. There was also an instance that I got a bacon mcmuffin instead of sausage mcmuffin. Why these people cant get it right???? I never had a good experience here.
