My family and I have frequented Edwards for many, many years and have always been impressed with their food and the overall experience until recently.
My mother, myself and my 9 month old baby went for coffee. The younger waitress placed the hot coffee directly in front of my baby, who then pulled it straight towards herself. The high chair didn’t have straps and was unsafe as it is table level. We raced her to A&E to be treated for serious burns.
The waitress was really apologetic and felt terrible but should have been trained not to place hot coffee in front of children.
I sent a message to Edwards about how disappointing it was and the state my baby was in. I heard nothing back.
My partner ended up going in to speak with management about a week later as we hadn’t had a response. The manager said he would follow it up and be in contact and seemed upset that this hadn’t been reported to him. Whilst my partner was in the restaurant complaining I received a blunt apology message back.
We are yet to hear anything or receive any kind of response/compassion for what happened to my baby. It should have been prevented.
The older waitress on duty could not care less about the welfare of my baby. When she thought we were out of earshot we could hear her telling the waitress it was my fault and not hers.
As a local who has supported Edwards for many, many years it’s safe to say I won’t be returning or continuing to refer friends and...
Read moreGroup of 9 people people and i grabbed each person's comments for their meals.
Entrees were the calamari, oysters, bruschetta, dip platter, chicken wings and garlic bread. Mains were porterhouse (medium rare), calamari, pork belly, chicken stir-fry, chicken linguine carbonara, crusty topped salmon and a parmy.
Calamari was nice thick pieces and very tender but the lemon aoli and salsa it came with made it probably the best I've had and that's no lie. Oysters were good. Bruschetta was delicious all ingredients were fresh. Dip platter was excellent as well with lots of bread (enough for at least 3 people). Chicken wings were excellent as well and came with a ranch style sauce. Garlic bread was home made but its garlic bread.
Porterhouse was cooked well and a good quality steak too (you can tell the difference). Red wine jus, mash and veggies were cooked perfectly as well. It was delicious . Pork belly was super tender. Chicken stir fry was nice. Linguine was very tasty (lots of garlic which my family likes). Portions were huge! Salmon was slightly overcooked but that's how they liked it, maybe a little too much sweet potato mash with it. Parmy was a little soggy unfortunately.
Overall 4 1/2 stars, Meals were in my opinion spot on. Steak and calamari were fantastic!! If the quality of the food remains at tonight's standard we will be making Edward's our new go to place for when we go...
Read moreI visited this restaurant with my husband while on holiday in Australia, and our experience was extremely disappointing.
We arrived at the restaurant around 7:40 p.m. and noticed several empty tables. However, the waitress informed us that the restaurant was fully booked and offered us only an outdoor table. We accepted this option. After 8 p.m., many customers had already left, and we even saw a group move from an outdoor table to an indoor one.
As the weather got colder, my husband politely asked the waitress if we could move indoors. She said she would check, so my husband returned to our table to wait. After 10 minutes with no response, he approached her again to ask if an indoor table was available, noting that many groups had already left. Her response was a curt and dismissive "No, it’s fully booked," delivered in a rude and arrogant tone.
By this time, it was 8 p.m., and the restaurant was set to close at 9 p.m. It was hard to believe the tables were still reserved. Her behavior came across as not just unprofessional but outright disrespectful. It felt discriminatory, as we didn’t see her treat other customers the same way.
This experience left a bitter impression, not just about the restaurant but about our visit to this otherwise lovely town of Portland. The waitress’s attitude and lack of basic courtesy truly ruined what should have been a...
