Short and sweet: Drinks are great, food is excellently cooked. Quality of the food itself is not great, price on top of this makes the meals not worth it. Might as well go to somewhere of a higher quality for the same price, like Ribs and Rumps. The long run: We started with the Finger Food Combo, a "hogs classic dish". Presentation was nice. There was three of each item provided, perfect for our group, plus a cone of calamari. Unfortunately the taste did not match the look. The chicken was the nicest but still relatively bland. The prawn spring roll like things seemed lacking in any flavour to accompany the pastry and prawn. Worst of all was the potato skins (normally a favourite of mine) which were presented nicely but lacked any flavour other than the BBQ sauce on them, the beef was tasteless and boring, the potato just didn't seem to feel right. All in all not a great dish, but nice enough, except for the price. At the price of a full meal I expected much higher quality considering the small quantity of food present. Next up was the chorizo and Brie prime rib, ordered medium rare (cannot order rare at hogs breath) with mash, ceaser salad and creamy mushroom sauce. Straight to the meat, it was cooked beautifully. One of the most succulent steaks I have had in ages, except for one blaring issue. The meat had little to no flavour. It felt amazing in the mouth but there was nothing to taste. All flavour came from the accompanying sauce, which itself was nothing special (not the mushroom sauce). This left me constantly having to slather the meat in sauce and mash to give it some flavour. I do not consider this a good steak. For the accompaniments, the Brie was good, melted just right while not being too hot to eat. The mushroom sauce had about as much flavour as a glass of water with a mushroom in it, not at all pleasing (but at least more flavour than the steak). Now the chorizo, it tasted fine, except it felt like chewing through rubber bands. I cannot attest as to whether this is due to the type of chorizo or because it had dried out or was old, but whatever the case it was a workout for my jaw. For dessert the creme brûlée was ok, nothing to complain about but nothing special either. In my opinion the food here is not bad as such, but at the price range and advertised level of quality it is not a spot I can recommend. For this price range something like Ribs and Rumps or even maybe Cactus Jacks would be more appropriate and provide higher quality for the same price.

Pros: Steak was on point and was practically melting my mouth. The salt and pepper calamari entree was very good. Cons: Being forced into a booth which painfully squished me (I am a bigger lad) as we were told they don’t serve mains at the tabled area. My wife’s chicken was very dry and my so called mushroom gravy was disgusting. The issues were quite bizarre, given it was the start of service on a quiet Sunday. After 20 years of dining at Hogs Breath, this meal was certainly not very pleasant compared to the average experience.

Ordered the salmon, it was very tasty. Chips had a nice crunch to them and the meal was well seasoned in general. Salad was refreshing to eat and the salmon had a nice touch to it with the sauce. Staff were awesome and super helpful. Excellent table service and the wait time was minimal. Went on a Thursday night which wasn’t that busy but still busy enough being school holidays now. Will definitely be coming back but also sad it’s the only hogs breath left in Townsville now. Keep up the awesome work. Thank you.

Family and I had dinner Friday 11th March 2022 table 10. The service was horrible. Not sure if there are issues amongst the team but it felt like we were an awkward inconvenience to two of your waitresses. The first waitress who awkwardly greeted us requesting our check in/vaccination proof seemed surprisingly shocked when we presented our proof to her. It’s as though she wasn’t expecting us to provide this to her. She gave us an uncomfortable look then said “ok, umm I’ll find you a table” After this awkward experience we were seated then served by a second waitress who appeared to be frustrated. She began to take our order and after being told one of our entrees was actually a main meal for my wife the waitress seemed upset by this. When asked if this was a problem she responded saying there was no problem just an inconvenience because she now has to re-allocate our meals to each patron. Seemed like a stupid exercise because when our meals were delivered the server had no idea which meal was going to which patron. Complete waste of time!! Absolutely ridiculous!!!We spent $150+ that night and all I can say is we get better service at a Maccas drive thru. We...

After dining a here a couple of weeks ago and having a ok experience, with my birthday dinner I thought, ok let's go again. We arrived for an early booking so one of the first there, we ordered appetizer, meals and drinks. Meals came, no appetizer, asked staff member to check if appetizer was still coming, no it's not, would you still like it? No, don't worry about meals here now. Unfortunately chicken dish way too spicy for one of the kids, but weren't to know so all ok. Someone else came, would we like to order more drinks, sure. Meals finished, still no drinks, would we like dessert, no, would you check drink order, considerable time passes, with staff going back and forwards obviously checking, we just about to leave when they arrive. Sorry forgot they said. At just under $170 it wasn't a great experience, we usually go to a pub once a week as a family outing and wanted to try something different after a ok time a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately the whole shambles and general lack of communication between staff has put us going back...
