We've never had a good experience at any Hogsbreath cafe's. It was a party of 6 with straight forward orders , wasn't busy ( literally no one - so we should have noticed the big red flag) so were hopeful for good meals .
It's why I wrote this, by far is the worst one yet. The entrees were brung to the table - freshly cooked and delicious, no complaints!
The mains were delivered to our table in a timely manner we ordered six meals - we received 5 and whilst we picked through the meals delivered we still were waiting one the 6th meal. The waiter walked past our table a number of times and even served us drinks when asked about the where still missing one meal we were basically went oh well . Whilst the remainder of us we had finished our meals - we still waited for the 6th meal. After we had finished our meals we eventually received the meal - nothing like was ordered we were fed up by now- so we were happy to get out .
On first inspection of meals we were not over excited about the presentation or lack there off and the dullness of the food itself. Hogs slaw was dry and old ( was at least the bottom of the bowl from last week).
Potato Deb mash thrown on the plate and like all powered potato was dry and tasted like the box .
The Mac and Cheese pulled of the shelf at Woolies and popped in the microwave without any milk .
The Steak if you could can call it that, we asked for Med Rare. We were presented with thin braised beef .. not even char grilled like they're famous for.
The 6th meal was presented and we it was also just plain shit !
We were told we were entitled for a discount for the inconvenience of missing meal ... we still paid over $300.
We won't be going again to any Hogs...
Read moreDear Hogs Breath Rockhampton Management,
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service and meal quality we experienced at your restaurant during our recent visit. We were looking forward to enjoying a meal at Hogs Breath, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired.
Firstly, we waited over an hour before our order was even taken, despite repeatedly attempting to flag down a member of staff. After our order was finally placed, we waited yet another hour without receiving any assistance or updates, even though the restaurant was not busy at all. We observed other diners also leaving, likely due to similar poor experiences.
When our meals eventually arrived, the quality was extremely disappointing. The curly fries were cold, the mac and cheese was dry, the mushroom sauce was cold, and the creamy garlic sauce tasted more like cheese sauce. To top it off, the prime rib steaks were excessively fatty. For a meal costing $107.25 for two people, we expected much better.
Throughout our entire time at the restaurant, not once were we asked how our meal was or if we needed any drinks. However, the staff were quick to approach us when it came time to pay, which we found frustrating given the poor service up to that point.
This experience has left us very disappointed, and we hope that you will address these concerns to improve the dining experience for future customers. I would appreciate a response regarding how you intend to rectify...
Read moreI visited with my partner and child out of nostalgia with low expectations and was surprised by how thoroughly the food didn't even meet the low bar I'd set.
I don't know how you 18 hour cook your steaks but from what I ate it looked and tasted like the steaks had been soaked in a warm bain marie bath for 18 hours until it had become colourless, completely flavour less and devoid of any texture. The sear marks might as well have been drawn on with a sharpie for how much texture or flavour they added ie none.
The Mac and cheese was perhaps even worse than the steak. Again somehow flavour less. A squirt of some yellow goop I imagine came from a sauce bottle like that used at subway sandwiches and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. The whole thing so cold the cheese didn't even melt.
I don’t like confrontation so I paid and left without saying anything. $85 spent on what was perhaps the worst meal I've ever had out at a "restaurant".
Upon looking over the Google reviews, I can whole heartedly agree with the one that says the establishment was like that seen on Ramsey's kitchen nightmares. I understand now why hogs breath have closed down across the country, and can see that it's only a matter of time before the Rockhampton store...
