During my recent stay in Palm Cove, I had the pleasure of visiting Rattle N Hum multiple times, and each experience was exceptional.
The staff consistently delivered outstanding service, greeting me with warm smiles and showcasing their unique personalities, which added a personal touch to every visit. Their attentiveness and friendliness made every interaction a highlight.
One standout feature was the presence of security staff at night, which demonstrated the bar’s commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment. This gave me peace of mind and enhanced the overall experience.
The food was a major highlight, particularly the pizzas, which I enjoyed nearly every night. They were consistently fantastic, prepared to a high standard, and available even outside regular kitchen hours, which was a huge bonus. While the pizzas were priced above $20, their quality, taste, and generous portions justified the cost. I couldn’t resist snapping photos of these mouthwatering dishes, which looked as good as they tasted.
The venue also offers a pool table, which was a fun addition. I enjoyed a few games, and it added a relaxed, social vibe to the bar. On several evenings, I was treated to live music performances that were professional, engaging, and a joy to listen to. The music elevated the atmosphere without overwhelming it, striking the perfect balance.
Rattle N Hum never felt overly crowded or chaotic—it was always just right. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, making it an ideal spot to unwind with a few beers or enjoy a meal.
I’d happily make Rattle N Hum a regular spot on future visits to Palm Cove. My only lingering question is the origin of the name.
I haven’t been able to confirm with the staff or owners, but I suspect it’s inspired by U2’s 1988 album and documentary, Rattle and Hum. The album, a mix of live performances and studio tracks from their Joshua Tree tour, paid tribute to American roots music, and the name feels like a fitting nod for a vibrant, music-loving venue like this one. If there’s a unique story behind it, I’d love to hear it from the owners! For...
Read moreI’m normally pretty happy with the food and service but this experience was just not good enough. I placed an order for takeaway over the phone, I was told it would be between 5-10 minutes. I am less then a 60 second walk from the restaurant so I waited just under 10 minutes to collect my food. When I received the food it was filled with excess water and juices from the tomato salsa which spilled out of the container when I placed it in front of me. When I went back to ask for a refund or for them to remake it, I was told that I had waited too long to collect my order and therefore it had been sitting which is why there were juices. Okay, fine, so the staff member that I spoke to preceded to make it again for me. I work in customer service and can tell when staff are being condescending or passive aggressive and I felt that because I had complained about the food initially that I was then treated poorly by the servers. I received the second lot of food which was just simply disgusting, I’ve ordered the same thing from this restaurant many times before and what they served me tasted stale and out of date. I took one bite and threw the rest away, I was not going to waste my time asking for my money back because the way I was treated when I first complained was indication that I would not receive the service I was asking for.. very disappointing to say the least, overall I really do enjoy this establishment. However this was just a really poor experience for myself and the staff members involved. Most likely will not be ordering from them again...
Read moreArrived during a quiet mid week lunch time 23rd October. About 1-2pm to find some spare tables inside and out. All these spare tables outside had leftover plates, food and water droplets all over them. We asked the waiter can we sit outside, hopefully hinting that they could clean the table off for us. One server came out and removed the plates and then just went back inside and waited behind counter. We were left wondering if we have to clean the table. Waited a couple of mins b4 sitting down and then realised it was up to us to clean it. So I had to go get the bottle of pump sanitiser they have sitting on the counter, hunted down a chux cloth that was on their cutlery and serviette preparation table and proceeded to clean up the table from the splashed drinks and old sauces on the table. The servers saw me get the supplies, standing right there behind the counter but not once offered to come and do that, u would have thought it's their job in that sort of bar/restaurant on the water. The food was alright, decent wedges and a good view. As we were midway in our meal, I watched as another lady sat down at the next table, and she too had to assume she had to sit and eat all around the dirty table that she sat at. No one came to clean that either. Bad look for what u would think is a decent restaurant on the water there Wouldn't go back, not impressed about the service, no matter how good the food might be. I think if the manager isn't around, then the wait on shift just talk and wait...
