Went here last night for dinner where we had made a booking for 4 and we were sat outside (not asked a preference) and were told that a couple may sit at the end of our table (which we didn’t mind but not what we expected), the couple who was sitting beside us who were in above 50yrs old got asked for ID for just seating on the outside tables, so they do not run away without paying the bill and then asking us for ID too. I ask why do you ask people for ID to sit on the table outside. Her response was it is company policy to take ID of people who are sitting on the tables outside so they do not run away. I let the lady know I was not happy to give her my ID for her to go and take it away and put it in draw not knowing what’s gonna happen to my ID so I asked for a manager so she went got a duty manager. So my question to the duty manager was why do you ask for ID for people sitting on the tables outside and he said it wasn’t a company policy it was just because the new manager requested their staff to ask for peoples IDs to keep while people are sitting outside because we were accused because we might run away without paying our bills. So I ask can I speak to the manager who made these rule. So the female manager came out and sat at the table and just let us do know it was her rules and it wasn’t the companies rules to ask for ID to be kept well sitting at a table outside then she went on and telling us how hard her staff have been working the last couple of days. We explained to her that no other restaurant in our town, all which have out door seating, ask for I’d, and that legally we don’t have to give her our id where she just tried to talk over the top of us the entire time. She told us no we don’t have to give our id and that she just wants to take our order so we can have a good night to which we all said don’t bother we won’t be eating here after being made to feel like criminals. She told us she just wants to take our order but we just want to argue. So then we left. As we were leaving we ran into someone we knew at another table and asked them if they had their id taken to sit out side and they said no they didn’t. We went and ate at a locally owned restaurant who couldn’t be more helpful without us even asking for anything. We later went to another place for dessert and we bumped into the older couple who were seated at our table at the barvarian and they told us they also left because they were told that was the rule and if they didn’t like it they could leave. They were happy to leave,...
Read morePOOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. My fiancé and I booked a table for 2 at 12nn today. They said it wasn’t possible to book one at that time and asked if it was alright to have it at 1230 instead. So we said that’s fine. When we got there, our table wasn’t booked and we were asked to stay at the window seat. We said yes yo that again. The attendant said since we were seated at the bar seats, we needed to go to the bar and have our orders taken. I was thinking that since they made a mistake in the first place, wouldn’t it be fair to just wait to take our order then and there instead? But my partner and I still said yes... yet again. Then this guy (who was wearing a shirt with security labeled on it) rudely told my partner to stay in one place at the bar and wait to be served instead of moving from one place to another trying to get one of the bar servers’ attention. He said it in a tone that was very rude, condescending, and just downright racist. We understand that everyone’s busy at that time but that’s not an excuse to be rude and careless with your customers especially since you guys JUST STARTED in Mackay. It’s very disappointing indeed. My partner and I were so looking forward to have our anniversary lunch at the Bavarian and your staff...
Read moreArrived at about 1 in the afternoon on a midweek day and the place was as good as empty with just a few tables taken up.
Place was very clean and because it was so quiet we hand plenty of seating options available to us.
When we ordered food its took about 25 minutes to arrive and our drinks were filled with too much ice.
I had a beef burger with bacon which look good at first glance but the bacon was overly fatty and way too much Mayo which just overpowered the taste of everything else. The chips were plentiful and seasoned well and complimented the burger which on its own was average at best.
My partner ordered the Steak Sandwich which was tasty and also very filling as it was quiet large so no complaints on that except maybe toast the bread a bit longer so it doesn't go as soggy.
We also ordered a garlic bread to share which was soft and not too strong in flavour so that's a bonus too.
The service from our waitress was fine however she didn't come to check if everything was OK.
Will maybe head back again in a few weeks and try something else from the menu and at time of day when its busy to see what kind of atmosphere it has with more...
