Vitalia's Pasta&Pizza at NightMarket — Restaurant in Queensland

Came across this place on our visit to Cairns and the girl working on the till was a pleasure to deal with. It was closing time so we were served in takeaway containers which was completely acceptable.The food was good and we returned the next day where the experience was totally different.

The guy on the counter first billed the food and drinks separately and did not provide a receipt for the drinks. Then we told him that we would be eating in and he told us that he would be giving us our food in takeaway containers. Fine until this point but it got interesting when another set of people came in later and they were served with plates and cutlery. Looked around and couldn't help noticing that the common trait around the customers who got served in plates was they were white. One asian couple sitting next to us got served in take away containers and once they left, another asian couple on the side got served in takeaway containers and they were also wondering why they didn't get served in plates when it was a clear dine-in dinner.

The young girl with glasses who served us on the first day is the only reason I give the service a 2 star else it would be a 1 star on the service. If it was her on the second day as well this would be a five star review for service.

Booked here wanting authentic Italian and also vegan options. Half the vegan menu wasn’t available which we were informed after we ordered. Paid $40ish for seafood pasta… 3 mussels, 4 clams (3 empty) and one bug the size of a prawn. Dish was so bland. Leonardo pizza was a soggy mess. Never seen an 18yr old man not eat a full pizza. Had to roll the pizza slices to be able to eat it. We all ordered three courses and we still stopped at maccas on drive home for a snack. Very disappointed. Waited 25 mins to try and get staff to be given vegan menus. All dishes came out separately. One had finished her entree before the next 3 meals arrived. We dined late on Sunday 5 January through firsttable.com.au . We ordered 3 pastas, 2 of which were very below average but edible after the huge day we'd had. The carbonara however, was inedible - quite literally. I put a fork full in my mouth and it was so bad I couldn't swallow it. I had to spit it out. When I confronted the waiter, I was informed that it was simply because I hadn't had a traditionally made carbonara before and I wasn't used to the flavour. Only when I (politely) began to insist how bad the food was and customers began to walk away, did he acknowledge my concerns and try to address them.
