Our group of 7 stopped in for breakfast at this busy cafe recently. I was advised of a 20-minute delay on coffees when I placed my order. One couple, who ordered well after the rest of us, received their meal and coffees quite quickly, while 5 of us had a wait for our food. Understandable given the busyness. None of the 5 remaining coffees had arrived after 45 minutes, and a staff member was queried. She was going to look into it and disappeared. We finished eating and still no coffees. After an hour, one of our group spoke to staff members at the counter, who confirmed our order had not been forgotten and would be ready soon. Another person was also overheard complaining about the delay in their coffee. We noted that other people who arrived after us had received their coffees. After an hour and a quarter, we went up to get refunds as we could not wait any longer. They then made our coffees on the spot while we waited at the counter... The baristas were working hard, but there is clearly no system for scheduling coffee orders. A 75-minute wait for a coffee, while later groups received theirs, is ridiculous. This shows poor management or training. The meals were tasty, but no one in our group is going to return to...
Read moreHave to be honest, we had a disappointing experience here on this day. From the outside this place has all the hallmarks of a lovely venue. There are tables on the grass, tables on the verandah and a bunch of options in the airy main room. The menu contained the usual array of breakfast goodies and seemed to favour local or regional produce. I had poached eggs on sourdough with added tomato (1 half piece $3) and added avocado ($4 for a small portion). The sourdough was well overcooked and the the eggs were boiled. Credit to the kitchen was that our meals were replaced in very quick time (eggs still overdone). The coffee lacked substance, richness and flavour. I try and offer some constructive feedback with the hope that owners may take on board suggestions as a way to hopefully improve business. With that in mind, I'd suggest all laminated menus, all staff wearing distinctive (pref. Drift branded) attire and training staff to keep a friendly demenour (even under pressure). Might be worth having a chef critique what is being served up...
Read moreCame on a not very busy Sunday morning, was probably only 20 other people there but waited over an hour for our meals. When ordering them the staff were rude and barely spoke to us. The person who ordered last got their meal first and had finished eating by the time anyone else’s had got their meal. Ordered a large coffee and got a small, ordered a banana smoothie and the waitress said ‘I have a smooth don’t ask me what kind it is because I don’t know’ when I finally got my meal which was just a ham cheese and avocado croissant it was luke warm with a big blob of unspread avo and 3 thick slices on ‘fake’ cheese that wasn’t even melted. We also order 3 of the same burgers and one came with pickles and the others didn’t? Not happy with the service or food although it was a very nice look venue and the menu looked...
