Arrived at 1pm on a lazy Friday. I was ‘greeted’ by a young woman who offered no pleasantries or smiles. Sadly, customer service was lacking at front of house. Another staff member was all smiles and would be better suited to customer interactions. I felt like I was a nuisance to this initial one staff member who only engaged positively with other staff members and was also witnessed to serve other customers as poorly as they served me. She greeted one customer by observing them approach the counter, leaving them to wait a minute and then approaching saying “yes?”… wow! If the owner happens to read this, this staff member had brown/blonde hair, pulled back into a white clip, wore a greenish shirt, black shorts, medium build, no name tag. Ordered the chicken wrap. Food was super quick, less than 10 minutes. Fresh and delicious! No complaints about the back of house service. I would dine here again for the food, though sadly the service was very off putting. My food was put down in front of me without a look or word my way by the same staff member. I’m an interstate traveller with my husband and newborn, this solo outing was my early Mother’s Day treat, I feel like I’ve wasted my opportunity to enjoy myself by dining in here. I simply couldn’t shake this negative energy from this one staff member based on such short interactions. Truly a shame. Without these interactions this would have been an easy 5 stars.

Thank you for the delicious food. Though I would consider offering this staff member another position not requiring customer...

Well i am so sorry to upset the equilibrium here ...but he must have had a bad hair day or it was coz it was thursday ..i mean seriously ...do people not understand their actions reflect on the town and on the business they work for ..now yes we have been here before and no complaints but today ...it was totally the opposite ....so let me share .... as customers we love to just stand around at the counter waiting while staff have their chin wag and we are being totally ignored ...hubby managed to order a coffee and it was horrible ...then to top off our day as we chose Robe to come out to relax and just have a nice day the male worker in there came out with an attitude coz he saw we were on the outside bench that runs along the street... was not even peak time and it was not even busy...but the male staffer had time to tell us off bout the seaguls and sitting at his benches because all he saw was the hot chips we had infront of us from another shop but not the coffee my partner had in his hand which he paid $6.00 for from his shop ... so NO !! WE WILL NOT GO BACK . Not at all happy about this and put a downer in...

We visited recently while staying in Robe, coffee and scone were nice, but when we walked in 3 girls were standing behind the counter chatting amongst themselves and finally noticed us standing there after about 2 minutes, then we were snapped at and told to 'go down the other end' to order from the 1 girl who seemed to be working, we ordered and paid then went and sat outside. The waitress who brought out our coffees dumped them down on the table and then slammed down the plate with the scone on it with a 'I can't be bothered with this' look on her face. Not very good service and not a good 'look' for a cafe that has at least 4 competitors within walking distance, it is a small town and reputation is everything. Not good service at all, and quite expensive for what we got, a tiny amount of cream and half a teaspoon of jam to put on the scone. We won't be going back there if we are...

Only gave 2nd star because service was quick and coffee was ok. Otherwise food was below average. Plain vienna bread was soaked in fat, eggs tasted like they were cooked in advance not from scratch to order, covered in a dry film. Burger bun was soggy and old with deep-fried chcken goodness that was soaked too. Got 4 basic meals and a coffee. Left $75 for 2 adults and 3 little kids. Advice: for a restaurant priced breakfast $20+ if you advertise sourdough bread - please use it. Use fresh ingredients that are cooked to order on the day with less cooking fat. P.S. Reading previous reviews looks like there is a different quality control on public holidays and weekends. Nothing even close.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Consistently Good Coffee and Breakfast Union Street Cafe is a regular stop for us when visiting Robe. The coffee is always reliable and they use locally roasted Mahalia Coffee beans, which have a strong following for good reason. The food is simple and well done, using quality South Australian ingredients like Barossa ham. We had coffees, a ham and cheese croissant, and a toastie on our last visit. Everything came out quickly and was fresh and well made. There are plenty of seating options and the number of staff working ensures fast service, even during busy times. Consistently good coffee, quality ingredients and efficient service. Worth a visit if you’re in Robe.

Breakfast on a recent trip to Robe and I was assured this place had Avocado on Toast worth stopping for! The served dish was definitely tasty but didn't quite meet expectations; bread selected wasn't thick enough to not get soggy and only one egg (slightly overcooked) is points off - must have 2 in my book. My partner had the pictured pancakes and commented that it needed something a bit more zesty to provide contrast. Still, certainly a nice Cafe on the main street. Coffee was good but lacked a certain substance and quality to be noteworthy.
