There is no words to explain the absolute horror which i assume is the owner/manager with short blonde hair treats her staff members. Went there for a quiet lunch as the location and design of the cafe is well maintained and pleasing to the eye. However what is not pleasing to the eye is the manner the manager speaks down to her employees. The lovely young lady’s working were being heckled and constantly micromanaged infront of customers. The manager has standards of service which are way out of this terrible cafes league. The constant yelling and bellowing by staff is extremely uncomfortable as during bushy periods you hear the staff yell and shout that they have food or coffee. No one and I mean no one wants to listen to that on a quiet Sunday lunch you can’t get a word in.
My granddaughter dropped her marshmallow on the floor while playing with it and the owner refused to get a new one unless we paid for it. The lovely staff members even sounded shocked upon hearing this. Upon going to the Maleny pub after and talking to local customers there they all agreed of the owners behaviour being unacceptable and an exemplary reason in which they do not go there. The customers loyal to this establishment if you ask me are just as bad as the owner condoning this behaviour to other human beings. It’s time Maleny stepped up and put the word out. These people bring shame into Maleny.
When reading other reviews dating back years the manager has been heavily criticised by the way she treats her staff. It’s not bluntness it is a better than thou attitude and downright entitlement and snobbiness. No wonder they’re constantly advertising for staff. No wonder she goes through staff like they’re toilet paper sounds like no one and I mean no one can meet this lady’s expectations. Her staff working also just looked over it and you can see them rolling their eyes and biting their tongue as she hovers around them screaming if the slightest thing is done wrong. My advice is close the cafe have a drink and relax.
Food was basic and mediocre so wouldn’t recommend unless you want an uncomfortable...
Read moreIt dismays me to write this review, because we have so enjoyed visiting regularly for 10 years; but we were very dismayed by our two visits recently, that we are hoping our voice joins the chorus of unhappy customers recently, and some change can occur to improve it back to the place so many of us locals have loved.
Firstly, coffee was less than tepid. My husband mentioned it to the wait staff immediately as my tea was brought to me, as his was brought to the table first. The wait staff just looked at us and walked away. We were perplexed wondering if anyone was going to return to speak to us. No-one came.
My chai tea was barely warm and quite unpalatable because it wasn’t even warm. It was so less than warm; I was questioning whether the milk was even heated at all.
My chips were overcooked and so cold, they were unpleasant to chew and eat. They were so cold upon arrival to the table, my husband who cheekily had one from my plate as it was placed on the table, commented, “I won’t be having any more of them; they are cold, dry and overcooked.” Sadly I came to the same conclusion after eating my first chip. Just horrible.
I mentioned it to the wait staff straight away, (she was walking past after delivering a coffee to an adjoining table; and I said that perhaps on a cold day the chips may stay warmer from the kitchen to the table in a bowl instead of a plate, because they have arrived so cold they are unpleasant to try and chew and swallow. Her reply was that she “would let the kitchen know.” No apology or recognition that we had just told her the chips arrived not even warm.
My husband’s poached eggs were overcooked and solid, and the toast shattered on the plate it was so dry and hard.
There was no music; or not that we could hear on a table outside. We used to always be able to hear the music.
For so many years we’ve enjoyed coming here, and always supported our ‘local’; but our past two Sunday brunches have been shockers, and memorably...
Read moreGot there approx 10am and went to the counter to order food. The young girl asked what table number. I think it was table 7. My husband has just had major surgery so wanted to be tucked away against the wall.
I thought it strange the girl asked was it just me here. I said no, my husband too.
She said, would you mind moving to a smaller table. We were at a table for 4 people. Please note: the cafe was only a third full and in the short time we were there, there were many tables available. Had the cafe been busy, I would have totally understood.
I mentioned a particular concern of my husband’s as to why we’d chosen that table but rather than accomodate us she said, what about table 8, which was right in the middle of the cafe.
I actually wanted to leave and go elsewhere but as we had an appointment, my husband said let’s just stay, so we moved to the table she requested, thus ruining our experience.
To be fair, my meal was lovely, my husband had overcooked bacon and both our coffees were not very hot.
I don’t blame the young girl as she was no doubt following orders. There certainly could have been some flexibility and...
