Lil Canteen Buddina — Restaurant in Sunshine Coast Regional

When I first discovered this hidden gem I was down on my luck. The day was gloomy, and overcast, I was feeling sick, my Centrelink was a week away and I was already broke, I was unemployed and lonely.

I then walked in and bought one of lil canteens tasty treats. Immediately my eyes were opened, and I saw colour. The clouds cleared, and the birds sang. My nose no longer sniffled and blow me down, I found a crisp yellow note in the back of my wallet.

I couldn’t believe it. I then ordered a smoothie... seconds later.. ding! A tinder match? I looked at my smoothie, my mind was spinning.. could this be what I was missing in my life? What other magic can lil canteen offer me? I took another sip. Nothing happened.. until I got my email offering me a new job!

By far my favourite lil place on the Sunshine Coast. Being a vegan I find it hard to find many options for drinks and food, or places that will cater to my needs. I had the smashed avo (without the fetta) and my friend had the same (with fetta). Honestly the best smashed avo I've ever tasted. Plenty of avocado, the bread was toasted to perfection and my friend said the fetta and chilli flakes were the perfect topping to add some extra flavour. The lovely girl behind the counter was quick and efficient, especially with the many drink orders she had as well. Some may not be as understanding during this difficult time, so I thank you for remaining open during this time and pretty much putting your health at risk to ensure people on the Sunny Coast and those of us that visit are well caffeinated and fed. I will be taking as many as my friends...

Food is good. Drinks are good. Major problem however. Both times I've been there they have had problems working out what order belongs to who. Second and last time I went however, my GF partner received her order and we began eating. Ten mins later, they came out with the exact same order except the lady said "GF". That when we realized they had served us a non gluten free option. Please note we got the right drinks with the first plate so naturally assumed it was ours. My partner is not seliac thank God but this is still a deal breaker for us as it's unacceptable to mess up dietry requirements. I don't mean to throw shade on them as they do make good food and coffee but if you have dietry requirements make double sure before eating...
