Kinnho Teppanyaki — Restaurant in Sunshine Coast Regional

Can't rate the food or the atmosphere as we didn't last there that long. Had booked well in advance for a table, asked to be seated in a good spot as this was our anniversary. We arrived and were seated right by the counter around an empty station with several empty seats (the worst spot). Asked if we could sit on the other side so our backs could face the wall, not a second given by our waitress who immediately said no. After we were seated another group came in and sat at our station, it looked like the restaurant over booked them as we were overcrowded at this station- we felt bad for ourselves and the others. We voiced our concerns that people were crammed and again, zero thought or consideration given to our concerns, they just began ordering. We gave it a minute or two to see if they could fix the seating issue to no resolve. Feeling very embarrassed, we got up and left the other group without saying a word. Very awkward. I usually avoid writing reviews like this, but it appears the great reviews this place has didn't live up to its standard on this occasion. My wife and I find it hard to get a night out to ourselves with a small family and this very rear occasion for us was almost ruined if 'Psari Seafood Bar and Grill' next door hadn't have give us a table...

O M G! I think this is the first time I ever write a review it at least if of the first... My husband along with 2 kids drove Caloundra and came across to this place, although we didn’t make a booking we were fortunate enough to be there just in time of a last minute cancellation and before the table entertainment had started, they were very accommodating, our 7 months old baby were also very well looked after by the lovely waiters, and June put in an absolute show and skills. We were not celebrating anything else other than life, but we were sharing our table with a group celebration a bday, and he made sure the bday girl was well looked after along with everyone else from the table including the kids !!!

The staff are not Japanese and our chef definitely wasn’t which meant our food tasted very average. Well cooked but lacking the authenticity of beautiful Japanese food cooked the teppanyaki way. Our chef was abrasively loud and laughed more at his own in-jokes than appealed to his audience. Most of us were bored and unimpressed. I spoke Japanese once to him and he had no understanding so clearly not Japanese and it came across in his manner and style of cooking as well as the lacj of taste in the food. Compared to other places I’ve been, this was very poor and expensive. Ridiculously overpriced. Very basic food and quite without the beautiful tastes Japan is renowned for. Disappointed. Will...
