We ended up here before and after a live show across the road and loved it. The vibe initially for me was very Japanese ex-pat bar - minimalist decor, focus on drinks and only a couple of food options to keep it simple and well-priced. Upon our return the place was packed and pumping (showing my age here). Live music was great and the crowd was mixed and friendly. A couple of bucks night groups were letting loose and in doing so there were a couple of times that rules got broken BUT what was great to see was that the main bouncer was fair and relaxed. There was no testosterone highs or aggressive posturing, just quiet chats and smiles and friendly pats on the back to clear up any misunderstanding and everyone went back to enjoying themselves. It felt safe and relaxed even as the night went on and at closing everyone was given time to adjust to the idea of having to pack up and head out rather than being unceremoniously thrown out. I usually love double barrel bar- and the karaoke on Wednesday nights. We had different women this time, who seems really irregular in her coordination of the karaoke. She’s run it three times I’ve been in and all three times regardless of busyness, I’ve had to wait between 2-3 hours for my turn to sing.
