Sat 9 August - On arrival at Akti our party of four were warmly greeted. We opted for a pre dinner drink outside on the wharf, however while enjoying the spectacular view, a short time later, when the rain fell (more like a spontaneous downpour), we were ushered inside to our table for our comfort (even though it was a touch before official opening time). The Akti decor was striking - stylish yet oozing a simple sophistication. From the moment we were seated, until the moment we left, the team at Akti exceeded our every expectation. Their warmth only surpassed by their professionalism and expertise - attentive without being invasive, and offering genuine recommendations to assist our dining choices. With so many wonderful menu items on offer, we eventually opted for the top tier banquet which was completely delicious - the kind of delicious you have to comment on with every mouthful. The Akti team were truly amazing. In a world where hospitality and service can sometimes disappoint - this team - the Akti Team - were "next level". We are reluctant to single out one person by name because we were unanimous in our discussions on the way home - every single member of the Akti team brought to our table their individual flair and talents. They anticipated our every requirement and together made our evening sensational. Akti delivered exquisite food and service - with professionalism and refreshing personality! The Sommelier was incredible - an encyclopaedia on everything "beverage", a genuine professional warmth and the most engaging storyteller! Our favourite Akti dishes were - well...every course! The seafood was a standout!!!! The galaktoboureko (which is a desert) was something we had never experienced before. Unique, fun and a real statement - we won't post the video we took, as there is an element of visual surprise before the taste sensation of this speciality. Thank you Team Akti - we look forward to visiting Woolloomooloo Wharf again - when the Sydney sun is shining! Akti in one word - DIVINE. Regards Virginia...

The man and I were treating ourselves after having arrived back in Sydney from a 5 week overseas trip, opting to enjoy an overnight stay at the Ovolo Woolloomooloo Wharf, before heading back to Canberra. As dinner time rolled around, we opted to meander downstairs and see what was open downstairs . We were surprised to find that one of our fav and somewhat of an institution at the wharf, Mantas, had been replaced with a new establishment. Our surprise was replaced with absolute delight. From start to finish the entire staff, plus owners, treated us like royalty . Gracious, informative and seamless are just some words by which to relay our experience . When it came to the menu, it certainly didn’t read as your typical run of the mill Greek food . I was having difficulty in making a choice requiring both our waiter Danny, and the maitre de, to run thru the vegetarian options for me. Disappointed that the one dish I selected wasn’t available, everyone was bending over backwards with suggestions and relaying from the chef himself to me what he could “whip” up. Even when it came to the complimentary pre meal consume, they swapped the provided fish based one with a tomato one. After having devoured our meal selection , the man had pork belly, whilst I thoroughly enjoyed both a selection of two dips with warm pita, with a spinach salad at the same time. I do wish I’d remembered to bring my phone to capture the presentation of the dishes as well as capturing the warm and welcoming ambience of this new establishment . Despite not being able to fit dessert in, again we were presented with a complimentary after dinner liquor, this being ouzo ( packed a punch on these weary now fully satiated travellers !) So looking fwd to returning back to AKTI’S and should anyone be looking for something beyond the ordinary, I don’t think you’d be disappointed with this gem...

@aktisydney is a stunning new venue in Woolloomoo, adorned with baby pink tablecloths and a summery feel. they welcomed us in with a 'Soup Shot' that was lovely and warming in this winter weather!

started off with HandMade Pita Bread and Ntinos' Mezze with a spread of olives, fava, tarama, tzatziki, melitzanosalata, my fave of the lot was definitely the taramasalata! then we refreshed our palate with Tartare 'Giouvarlakia' which consisted of tuna, olives and crispy rice paper which practically melted in the mouth. flavours were bright and tangy!

we also added the Saganaki as an extra because what's lunch without boiling hot cheese? it had just the right amount of sweet and salty, with a smoked lemon flavour.

for mains, we dived into the Arnaki with succulent lamb shoulder, chmichurri and fresh lemon, served with Patates (fried potatoes) and Horiatiki classic Greek salad. we of course had to add the Makaronia Karavides which ended up being my favourite dish, the smooth linguine was divine alongside the Moreton Bay bug.

dessert was super exciting and theatrical with table-smashed Galaktoboureko with light, fluffy layers of filo, cream & honey. the Chocolate Trilogy is slammed onto the table from a huge tub and featured a trio mousse with popping candy. I actually really enjoyed it paired with the Pagoto, a Greek yoghurt sorbet with honey crumble.

Price: classic set menu $80pp + extras

Went here on 8/11 for a bachelor party. I was clearly discriminated by a waitress with the most heavy makeup. First, when she put down the bread, she didn’t put it in the middle of the table where it’s far from me, while it was still some space. Okay, I thought maybe she was in a hurry. Second, when she brought 2 cokes for us, my partner pointed at me to tell her it’s for me but she still put it down on the opposite side. The last straw was when we told her we didn’t get the second appertizer in our set menu, she explained it’s shared among people on the table but it’s hard to believe because everybody got their own plate but not us 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think it’s because I’m the only Asian-looking person among my table. In addition, we paid $110pp just to wait nearly 1hr for the main and the portion of everything is relatively small. I understand the concept of fine-dining but I’ve had much better experience in other places. The only thing that kept me not go straight to the manager and complain is excellent service from a waiter named Loris (I hope I spell his name right). He was so friendly and caring.
