Our recent family function at Baba Ghanouj in Parramatta, where we indulged in the Mama Banquet, left us with a delightful culinary experience. I'm thrilled to share my four-star review of this memorable occasion.
The set menu Mama Banquet offered an array of unlimited mezza dishes, which were promptly refilled by the attentive team. It was a joy to have a continuous flow of delectable appetizers, allowing us to savor the variety of flavors from Lebanese cuisine. The team's promptness in refilling the mezza dishes ensured that our dining experience remained enjoyable throughout the evening.
Among the many delightful dishes, the standout was the batata b kezebr. These crispy potato cubes seasoned with aromatic spices were an absolute highlight. The perfect balance of flavors and the irresistible crunch made them an instant favorite among all the guests.
While the overall experience was exceptional, I must mention that the lahem meshwi fell slightly short of expectations. The dish lacked the necessary amount of salt and was slightly overcooked, resulting in a less-than-ideal texture. However, it's important to note that this was a minor setback in an otherwise remarkable dining experience.
The ambiance at Baba Ghanouj was warm and inviting, perfect for a family gathering. The staff was friendly and accommodating, ensuring that our celebration went smoothly. The atmosphere contributed to the joyous occasion and made us feel welcomed throughout the evening.
I deducted one star from my rating due to the aforementioned issue with the lahem meshwi. However, it is worth mentioning that the Mama Banquet, with its unlimited mezza and standout dishes like the batata b kezebr, still delivered an overall fantastic experience.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a venue to celebrate a family function with delicious Lebanese cuisine, Baba Ghanouj in Parramatta is an excellent choice. The Mama Banquet, with its wide variety of mezza options and attentive service, is perfect for a memorable gathering. I look forward to returning to Baba Ghanouj for another delightful...
Read moreMy husband and I would come to this restaurant not often however often enough to realise the shift in the portions and pricing. While we are completely fine with paying for food that is worth the price, in this instance tonight, it was not worth it. We had brought a friend along with us as we had a great experience in our previous visits but to our disappointment it was average.
The menu has changed and the options are very minimal. While i understand that this is probably to help the kitchen manage the orders it was odd to see that we had to purchase a banquet to get lamb skewers. My husband and I use to get the Shish Tawouk plate and struggle to finish one plate together but the plate that came to us tonight barely had garlic dip ,no more than 1/2 a table spoon, which would’nt even feed one person. A petty portion of chips (which we swapped the rice for),four mini chicken skewers and a pinch of pickles. Now, reading the current reviews and the responses from the owners you’re going to say “well you ordered one dish for two people” or “dine in at places which suit your class” but, the point of this is- one dish WAS able to feed two people, now it barely feeds one and, if its worth the money people WILL PAY. When asking about the sizing for the Fattoush salad the waitress wasnt able the answer the question and literally said “small is small and large is large” , i find it odd that they were not familiar with the portions but ill give her the benefit of the doubt. You may say that this is what you deem fit for your portions, but your reoccurring customers will most definitely not return after paying top dollar for a petty portion. I will add the waitress we had took this feedback on board and got us some extra chips and dip free of charge which we appreciate but overall, the disappointment and embarrassment we felt when the food arrived when we had recommended this restaurant to our friends will most definitely add to the reason as to why we wont be back. We had also addressed this feedback with the lady who helped us pay the bill...
Read moreI wanted to give my honest feedback to this establishment as I strongly believe it has a lot of potential, and also because I would like to come back and see some improvements.
First off, let me list the pros. The vibe and atmosphere is immaculate, you really get immersed in the Middle Eastern experience and culture. The staff are attentive and answered all the questions we had, and were patient with us. The tea and coffee is lovely, and we would go back for the Lebanese tea.
Now the cons. I was told on Instagram that the food is Halal, even though there was no mention of it on the website or menu. So I thought okay I will ask to see the halal certificate. The staff could not provide me with a halal certificate, which rang alarm bells for me. They told me they couldn’t get halal certification because of the alcohol. So we asked to see any invoices from their meat suppliers to make sure. They also couldn’t provide me with any. So we stuck to vegetarian options, no worries. Now, I knew they had gluten free options on the menu. I was then told that the gluten free options are cooked in the same fryer as everything else…which makes them not gluten free. Why state that on the menu? My recommendation would be to state this somewhere on the menu or simply write ‘traces of gluten’ instead of gluten free. I felt a little misled and upset that I couldn’t eat much, having come from a very long drive. I was offered cucumbers to have with some dips as an alternative to bread. Not satisfying at all, I wish they at least had gluten free bread like other higher end restaurants. So overall, I ate cucumbers and labneh, with coffee. Not the Lebanese experience I was hoping for tonight unfortunately, I left a little disappointed and sad.
I mean all of this with the best intentions, as we genuinely loved the vibe of the place and really do wish to come back. I hope some of this feedback can be taken into...
