Hotel was pleasant and the customer service was great, which made my stay. Below is outlined feedback, good/bad.||Pros||-Close to metro station, mall, markets, and eateries ||-Great customer service from front desk ||-Spacious room and nice amenities ||-EZ mart right downstairs (He was def not the friendliest)||||Cons||-I hated the bathroom, sink was too small and the water from shower would go everywhere - worst part of the stay - I would have never booked if I had known the shower door was that small compared to the shower area- totally useless and constantly cleaning up water||-Steep ledge entering bathroom, that cause me to trip multiple times- safety hazard||-No clear directions on how to operate appliances- as a non-Australian, stark differences from American appliances, a quick reference card would have been helpful||-No paper towels, purchased out of my pocket. If you offer a full kitchen/kitchenette- the basic provided items, should at least include a roll of paper towels||-No door peephole- so if someone knocked you had no idea who was there - as a solo traveler, was not a fan of this||-When I booked, I thought the balcony opened up, as I am a smoker, and was very disappointed to see this half open concept with windows, and having no designated comfy place to simply sit and smoke was very inconvenient and frankly annoying. ||-The rooms def need some TLC. The word "luxury" is used a little too loosely in this instance. The common areas, like downstairs, are misleading and extremely nice, but 4th floor and rooms are tired and worn - def not luxury. I took pics, carpet worn, discolored, and ripped. Same as in room, def areas of improvements, again, if you wish to label it "Luxury"||-Guy concierge could have been a little bit friendlier||-Elevators extremely slow||-Homeless person literally had an outside apartment right across the street- area is not as nice as I thought, and this was off putting. ||-No clear understanding of the bond (deposit hold) this can be a real issue if someone is caught off-guard. Expedia did not state I had a deposit on my reservation, but as an avid traveler, I assumed there was one and glad I did. Your own website has $500 (which is way too high), another site had $150) but when I checked in, it was $100 I believe- way too confusing. ||-Balcony door from inside the living area would not lock and the door from bedroom to the balcony was not locked at all. Being a solo female traveler, regardless of the balcony window capability, this is not ok. ||||Overall, the stay was ok, but using the word "luxury" was very misleading, as the only luxury thing...
Read moreI would rate our stay as only okay. We stayed in the two bedroom executive suite on a saturday night. Their website indicated that the rooms came with "a choice of a firm or soft sleeping duck mattress". When I called prior to our stay to make a selection, I was advised that they did not offer this option and only standard mattresses were available. If this is the case then this should not be advertised and is misleading.
When we arrived in the hotel, having already informed the hotel that we were a party of 6 (we actually only had 5 people which was well within the capacity for the executive two bedroom suite as one person decided not to attend), we came to a room with only three bath towels and four beach towels. This was insufficient for our little group. We had to call housekeeping to get this sorted.
We then noticed that the room had insufficient coffee pods (only four). After calling housekeeping we were given a handful of coffee pods (nearly all decaf).
We also noticed we had no bathrobes when the website stated this was included. When I informed reception we request five bathrobes, we were only given four and had to call house keeping again to cover the final person.
We then looked at the pool. This was advertised on their website as an "infinity pool" however it looked like a regular rooftop pool to us. We understood that the very basic definition of an infinity pool is where the water flows over one or more of the edges of the pool, which produces the visual effect of the background surrounding it. In this case, the water within the pool stayed well within the boundaries of the pool and the water line was not even close to the edge (ie just a regular pool). This is quite misleading and they should consider revising their wording.
When we checked out, having already paid quite a hefty price for one night parking ($30), we came to a sign on the car that indicated we should see reception and implied that we did not pay for parking. This was later clarified as an error by reception and we left.
Overall the small issues just built up to a not so great image in our mind. We would give this a second thought unless you dont mind calling housekeeping three or four times and if you dont mind being misled by certain website descriptions. We had certainly expected more of a...
Read moreInitially I was really excited to be staying at Skye Hotel Suites Parramatta, and while we were there the experience was amazing. The room was clean, really spacious and we loved the room itself. Unfortunately, since leaving this whole thing has turned into the worst experience. I wish we had never stayed at Skye Hotel Suites. I paid the $100 deposit through my credit card as requested, and they advised that it was just a holding amount that would not be removed. A week after checking out of Skye Hotels Parramatta the $100 was removed as well as a second charge for $101.50 which included a credit card transaction fee which I hadn't been told about at the time. Only the $101.50 was demonstrated on my invoice, which is why I was concerned and contacted Skye Hotel Suites. The first employee I spoke to tried to tell me the amount was not withdrawn from my account. Thinking that maybe I had made a mistake, I double checked my account before calling them back. The manager told me the same thing, before I was able to demonstrate that the money had been taken out of my account. He advised he would sent a form to my bank the next day (it was a weekend) in order to speed up the process and advised me to call my bank the next day. After calling my bank they confirmed that Skye Hotel Suites had in fact charged the $100 to my account, and it was removed (not pending as management at Skye Hotels claimed). I tried to contact them again, and they requested my card details via email. Firstly, they withdrew the amount without me supplying those details again so I don't trust the company at all, and secondly even if I did emails can frequently be scammed and I will not provide those details. Now I've had to start a dispute claim with my bank, despite the fact that all of this occurred over 2 months ago. Pretty pathetic that such a large and supposedly high quality, luxury hotel is being so troublesome over $100. I feel like I've been scammed, which is made even worse by the fact that I paid $860 for the room, not including the extra $100 removed from my account. Would not recommend, much more trouble...
