A regular customer with friends. So close to the riverside theatre! However last night was a disaster! The first hint of the night to come was our server repeating our orders and then one of our party asking did she get the Prosecco ordered. Her reply was “I just said that!” Bad attitude! Next steak was ordered- one medium rare the other well done. However the server was clueless when he came out with the two dishes on which was which. They weren’t marked. If you want your meat well done it shouldn’t be sitting in a pool of blood. So it was sent back to the kitchen . When it was returned to the table it was medium but acceptable as we had waited a long time for this meal. The young lady running the restaurant tried to wow us with her knowledge of terminology relating to how well meat is cooked. Her attitude was rude and superior! She would have been better off sharing this knowledge with the chef and apologising for the mistake. Also our plates were literally stolen off the table when the last bite was taken, no one asked us if we had finished . We were being rushed out. Then coffee was ordered at the end of the meal. One coffee was with soy milk. Once again they didn’t know which was which, so the young lady running the restaurant that night stuck her nose in the coffee to smell it. We were horrified ! So unhygienic! Anyway I realise you have to make allowances for new staff but the young lady in question was running the restaurant that night and has been there a while and should know better. She was rude, superior and ill equipped to do the job. As we walked out without leaving a tip ( surprise surprise!) our so polite lady hid the free mentos under the counter so we couldn’t have any. Very petty! I’m sorry to say this but there are so many restaurants in church street and we will be...
Read moreI made an online booking for my brother's 21st birthday, around 15-20 minutes in advance. Luckily, there was one available time slot at 17:30 14/10/23. However, upon arrival, the waiter couldn't find my reservation on their sheet of paper but eventually spotted it online. Nevertheless, they promptly seated us.
The person who seemed to be the head waiter didn't provide us with menus and asked us to take them from the reserved table (dark hair and dark in complexion). Then, he proceeded to lecture us about making earlier bookings and insisted we take a business card for future telephone bookings. This went on for about 3 minutes. I mentioned we could find another restaurant if there were no available seats, to which he responded, "No, no, we have a table available, that's why I seated you." As someone who has worked in hospitality many moons ago, I didn't find his approach appropriate for the situation.
There was no cheese garlic bread on the menu. So, I asked the waiter if we could have cheese added to the garlic bread since that's what the birthday boy was craving. He agreed.
However, instead of cheesy garlic bread, a cheesy entire garlic bread pizza arrived. I informed the waiter that this was not what we ordered and he promised to send someone to assist us. Surprisingly, the same person who lectured us earlier came over and explained that they couldn't make cheesy garlic bread because it would burn in the oven due to the low oven. I reminded him that he had initially agreed to our request.
Despite this, we thanked him and enjoyed our meal. The food was fantastic, and the chefs did a great job. However, the head waiter's behavior really dampened our mood.
Unfortunately, this experience has made us decide not to return to...
Read moreFrom a friend's suggestion I had to try 317.
I found it quite impressive and that 317 is happy to accommodate any and all dietary requirements throughout all menu items.
The atmosphere felt okay but did feel a bit flat. Some families here and there but some subtle music would have been nice.
Service started pretty good. Although most staff were quite friendly one waiter did come off a bit rude and rushed. The service did get better throughout the dinner. They provide physical menus while also providing digital menus via QR code.
The chips had a good crust for a nice crunch, fluffy on the inside, nicely seasoned and the Aioli wasn't too overwhelming with the right amount, can't go very wrong with Chips. 8.5/10
The Salt & Pepper Squid had a great coating giving it a good texture. The seasoning was on point and made it very addictive. Definitely a must have on any visit. 9/10
Cheese was additional for the Bruschetta. I personally chose to leave the Cheese out. However the Bruschetta was still great with a good portion. Nothing too special, but no fault in the execution. 8/10
The Penne Pesto Chicken Pasta was one of the best Pasta dishes I've had in a bit. The Pasta was coated well in the Pesto sauce and the flavour of the cheese stayed consistent throughout the dish which wasn't too overpowering with other components. There was also a great serving of Chicken throughout the dish. 9/10
Overall I had a great experience at 317. Despite the minor bump with the service it was generally great. I would definitely come back again just to try a pizza on my next visit.
