We considered this hotel as its part of a membership we have and we had westmead children's hospital appointments for our disabled daughter.
Lets take a minute to remember we are still navigating COVID and we all need to wait our turn.... with that said The Restaurant meals are top of the list to get excited about JUST outstanding!
Size is very generous ( could easily share the lunch meals between one adult and a child) and meals themselves are ....I would almost say worthy of a full 5 stars we (including 2 children) enjoyed 2 breakfasts a lunch and 2 dinners here and we would highly recommend to make a booking even if not staying here. Dinner and lunch Menu seems to be limited yet variety to suit all B'fast had exceptional choices including full kids menu with all the fav's. Staff are lovely,(particularly Renee) again Limited due to COVID (so expect to wait your turn, a short wait though they seem to have things under control)t Nothing here was too much trouble. From front of house, room service to restaurant I cannot fault the staff ...
Then we have the Rooms.... sadly a let down, however seemed clean and fresh if you booked a room that was of regular use so say a standard double! But we booked the larger loft style room and from the minute we arrived we could tell the Age of room by its traditional aged smell (no windows to open)very very miss matched spa/shower area... tiles replaced with randoms..dirty ledges worn spa jets
I could go on but in the hotels defence I am of one opinion and my standards having booked the best room available are high. Especially when I am a family consisting of a disabled daughter who's health is a priority. we moved rooms to a suit so a king bed room (huge) and a living space with a fold out (that has to be a most comfortable fold out I have even slept on ) thou again a need to fault the housekeeping having bathrooms with Spider webs and Spiders living on the main showering area window, design layout was a bit tricky in one bathroom but we managed.
Pool area?...
We asked for towels to be replaced as they had ran out during earlier sessions and this was done with no complaint again another eg of the service provided, The pool itself outdoor ( with a spa that was warm but not functioning) was slightly to dangerous The age of hotel proved to be dangerous for us in this instance - with our little 6yr old daughter slicing her toe on the tiles 3 times ( 3 seperate cuts) in what felt like a short 2 minutes and we didn't notice( she is non verbal) until we seen the blood and investigated the very sharp edges, spa damage. Our pool experience was very short lived.
All in all we would defiantly be looking at other options for accomodation yet would drive a good distance to eat at this amazing restaurant.
Parking was fair at $20 unlimited exits over a 24hr period
Location - Also fair unfortunately the light rail construction is currently limiting Church street however you could still find meals and conveniences within walking and a huge westfields around 10-15 walk
Accomodation - very comfortable beds and very fair room sizes for suites and loft rooms yet Age of rooms is to be considered, I understand revamps are to commence after Full Covid restrictions ease.
FOR KIDS -The Menu is super has all the favs and the servings again fantastic, A pool and spa area for older kids or confident swimmers and meal time colouring in activity while you wait. A little park across the road and hotel is right along the River side for a stroll if fresh air is needed, with picnic tables.

Read moreCurrently staying at the Novotel. I had booked a specific room to help celebrate a special weekend for my daughter. A once off stay in a fancy hotel suit to celebrate her representing the country and to celebrate the end of year dance recital. She was so excited to be staying in the “tippy top room with the view” as she put it. The room we had booked was a multi level suite with a kitchenette and dining table, a comfortable longeroom and stairs leading up to the main room with a spa bath and an amazing view. The wow factor room.
However (and through no fault of staff or the hotel) the lift that went to the top floor had broke a month(ish) before our stay, and we were offered another room. I did accept as I still wanted to make the weekend super special for mini miss. And I also hoped the lift would be fixed in time and we would be offered our original room again. That did not happen.
When we arrived we were excited as it’s not often we stay in a hotel. We were greeted by a kind gentleman on the desk who promptly checked us in and gave me the swipe keys. Then we were on our own. We went up the lift to our floor (6, not 12 or anything even close to it). Opened the door to the room and was greeted to a room on the smaller side. The pull out sofa was made and the room was neat and tidy. The view was mainly of the hotel next door but we did have a small view of the park in the corner of the window.
In the main bedroom of the room (first room was a loungeroom) the bed was made and presented well. There were the normal information cards, “what we offer” brochures and a travel magazine on the desk. There were also a few room service menus to peruse. With both rooms there was a bathroom with a toilet, basin and a stand over shower/bath. In the main room the tap for the shower dripped all night (must write that on the supplied “in need of maintenance” form). There is a safe, a hair dryer and an iron in the main room also along with 2 robes and 2 pairs of hotel slippers.
In the lounge room there is a small older style mini bar fridge stocked with the usual beer and soft drinks for purchase. But no ice tray. There is a kettle and a few instant tea/coffee and sugar sachets with cups and glasses in a draw. And no microwave. Both rooms have their own air conditioning with seperate control panels. Both rooms also have 2 swivel upholstered chairs. Each room has a flat screen smart TV with clear image and a number of channels to watch including some “Novotel” channels.
There is little to no sound proofing and you can hear other hotel patrons come and go. You can also hear the nightlife in the street below quite clearly even with the windows closed and blackout curtains drawn.
There is an out door pool on level 2. With a spa, steam room and gym also on the same level. We did not use the gym or steam room. Around the pool are some sun lounges and an outdoor lounge setting. There is also a bbq (not sure if for guest or hotel use for events)
All in all it was a room. Nothing special for our stay. We were disappointed at the situation. But we still accepted the room as it was too late to organise anything else with any wow factor. This is not a room I would have booked for our wow factor stay. It is a simple room with a...
Read moreWe stayed here the night before a dance competition at Sydney Olympic Park. We live a number of hours away so decided to stay the night before and be well rested … we should have just left home at 2am in the morning, we would have gotten more sleep I am sure. My advice to anyone not staying here for a sporting event at Commbank stadium is to check if there is something on there before you book. We didn’t think to check what was on (so yes, our fault) because we didn’t realise it was so close to the stadium but on the night we stayed there was an A league soccer game. We heard all the commentary, all the crowd and all the crowd walking back – it went on for what felt like hours and was extremely noisy. Then there were the people hanging out in the park across the road, arguing and fighting with each other until all hours. The light rail bell is not too loud but is easily and clearly heard right outside the window (unless your room was at the back of the hotel I assume). We had a tour group that had a few rooms either side of us who decided it was ok to keep going between rooms all night so the thunk of the doors closing was relentless, and when I says all night, they were still going at 3 and 4 in the morning, but that was apart from them having conversations in the hallway outside their rooms. There was some issue with the air conditioning vibrating – it would come on every 10 mins, make a lot of noise for 10 seconds or so and then go off. So it didn’t go for long but once you got somewhat settled it would go on again, then off, then on etc – we couldn’t turn it off because of how warm it was, well, we could but then we would have to open the window for fresh air and the outside noise was already bad enough. The shower cubicle was tiny, you really couldn’t move much at all, and the shower head was leaking and wouldn’t stay up so showering was fun with one hand holding the shower head the whole time. It was late by the time we showered so I couldn’t be bothered telling reception as I assume the maintenance people would not have been working at that time and we really just wanted to go to bed. I know what happens outside of the hotel (noise wise) is out of control of the hotel but is worth considering if you are hoping for a rested night sleep. We also had a few cockroaches staying with us. On the plus side, it is really close to all the restaurants on Church Street and is right across from the Riverside Theatre if you were seeing a show there. The beds were also comfortable. So it would be a good place to stay if you are seeing a show or going to a sporting event at Commbank Stadium, but not so great if you need a good night sleep. I would have reported the shower and air conditioning issues to reception on check out but it was early and there was no one on the desk (it’s staffed 24/7 but I think they might have been helping with the breakfast rush) and we didn’t have time to wait. I won’t stay here again, and even more especially for the price of the stay versus the quality of the accommodation. I am an Accor member and we travel a lot and always consider Novotel reliable but this was very disappointing. I gave it a 2 star review, 1 star each for the 2 staff on the reception desk...
