We are travelling from Canada and decided to come to Babel for breakfast. Overall, I canât say we were very happy with our experience. I am writing this review one hour after I ordered, and we are still waiting for one of our meals. There are four of us and each meal came out one at a time, I think the guy that is cooking is only preparing one meal at a time. When we got here, there was only two staff on when really there should have been three. There were a number of other people that were here before us still waiting for their food or coffees. A beautiful lady by the name of Cora was running around, taking orders, running cutlery to the tables, apologizing and doing her best to help out. I donât believe she is an employee however I do believe the manager should definitely be giving her something if not a job!. As the food arrived at our table, one meal at a time with about a 15min gap between each, there were a number of issues. Iâve attached a photo of what should have been a classic omelette looks more like a deconstructed omelette. The French toast came to the table with banana and strawberries however, it shouldâve had banana and bacon according to the menu. But our 13yo boy was to hungry to care. I do hope management and the owners really focus on staffing on a public holiday and also experience of staff would probably go a long way as well. The food itself was good I have to admit, the atmosphere of the cafĂ© was fine. A little hot inside but thatâs to be expected this...
Read moreI visited Babel Coffee this morning and ordered a 3/4 small latte, as I prefer a lighter milk ratio. While the barista was pouring the milk, my husband politely indicated when to stop, but the barista responded in a surprisingly rude and sarcastic manner, saying things like âWould you like to pour the milk yourself?â and âWill you come back and do latte art for me?â
We were taken aback by the toneâespecially since our request wasnât unusual or rude. We understand that coffee preparation is a craft, but customer preferences should be respected without attitude. Unfortunately, this interaction left a very bitter tasteâmuch worse than any poorly made coffee. Disappointed, and weâre...
Read moreToday I purchased a bacon n egg roll at 12.45pm. I looked at menu and price was $6.90 and outside they had deal bacon n egg roll plus coffee $10. After staff took my order for bacon n egg roll only I was charged $10.90? Apparently sauce is $4 extra which I then told them it doesnât say sauce is $4 as extra bacon or halloumi is only $2-3 so come on! After I complained they tried to give me back $4 but once youâre caught trying to steal from customers youâre caught. Wonât ever be returning to babel and I suggest you donât...
