I think the photo says enough When my partner and I went in we were greeted by the owner and was told to order at the counter, fine. When we sat down however I believe the owners were having lunch and a loud conversation in their language just across from us -not the most pleasant indication of quality. We ordered the combination chow mein and Viet beef pho, both were incredibly sub par to say the VERY least. Viet beef pho - As a Malay/Chinese restaurant, I question why that is on the menu. Regardless, noodles were undercooked and hard, broth had next to no flavour, presentation was atrocious and the meat - what seemed to be beef strips instead of thin slices and a meager portion at best. Combination Chow mein - The picture really does tell all. They used way too much sauce, overly salty and a genuine lack of noodles - a few strands compared to the vegetables and meat. This was a shame because the vegetables and meat were actually not half bad. Finally the kicker, hadn’t I not eaten all the non-existent noodles, I wouldn’t have found a BOLT IN THE FOOD. I have no idea how it could’ve wound up in there but it was horrific to see and also inadvertently put in my mouth. I pointed this out to the staff, the woman came by and took it away promptly to the kitchen whilst the owner looked bewildered, as if nonchalantly retreating back to the kitchen was going to solve the problem. Not even coming by to apologise. Another man later provided us a refund on my dish. $20.80. This place should be closed down for its food, as well as health and safety violations. Reading the other reviews, I’m worried that they will only continue this behaviour unchecked until someone ends up in hospital. If I could give this place negative stars, I would in a heartbeat.

It's been over 12 months since I last dined here, and the quality and presentation of the food has deteriorated severely. I ordered two dishes, 'Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs' and 'Singapore Curried Prawns and Noodles', unfortunately, both meals were of poor quality and only just edible. The 'Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs' was flooded with so much sweet & sour sauce that whatever was left on the plate could have been used for a second serving. The Ribs were cooked perfectly. The 'Singapore Curried Prawns and Noodles' wasn't very flavoursome and was very bland, to say the least. The prawns and other ingredients were cooked well. However, the noodles had the appearance and taste texture of being boiled in water as they were very soggy. The noodles should have been cooked in a wok with all the other ingredients as this is the correct asian way to cook them. Furthermore, the free bottle of water that was placed on the table certainly didn't look appealing either. It had an unusual faint greeny / brown discolouration tinge to it, and after closer inspection, I realised that the inside off this bottle hadn't been cleaned for some time. We certainly didn't sample their disgusting looking water. This makes me wonder if anyone has felt unwell after drinking their free water. An Asian friend whom I was with expressed their total dissatisfaction at the quality and presentation of the food to the owner of 'Bamboo Box' in their native language. The owner was shocked and wasn't too happy at being told off by a person who spoke his own native tongue. We won't be back there anytime soon, and I certainly don't recommend them whatsoever.

Went here and greeted by a young girl and given us a corner table, sat and table water already on the table which is a bonus as we were thirsty from the trip to Katoomba. Ordered nasi goreng, steamed dimsim, eggplant with szechuan sauce and also salt and pepper fish and also their sweet Malay milk tea. Paid by card, we were surprise by the high rate of the Weekend surcharge ( 10%) but thats how it is now i guess in nsw, as the weekend rate for the waiter-waitresses are the same with normal weekdays rate. Food were yummy, service were brilliant, we asked for chilli, with no hesitance they gave us the chopped chillies and also we asked for the chilli oil, they also have them too and gave us some. So yum, will definitely be back there again. The portion were big and we could not finish it, so we pack them up taking to our hotel, lucky our hotel has a microwave in the room. And also, they have variety of vegetarian options, they using the mock meat for their dishes. Bravo Bamboo Box.

Worst food we’ve had on our trip here. We ordered 3 dishes and all were flavourless, overpriced, and disappointing. The food we received was barely qualifiable as the dishes advertised. Not sure when Singapore noodles meant frozen peas, corn and carrots fried with some shredded lettuce lazily tossed on top. Eggplant was slimy and tasteless. And Mongolian beef was tasteless and overpriced. Service was rather “minimalist”. Server was delirious and couldn’t understand what I was saying. Had us pay immediately, a good move because had I known what I would be eating I would have been reluctant. Food took 25 minutes for 3 dishes a near empty restaurant. Was not brought any cutlery or glasses for water. Other customers at the restaurant were also frustrated with the food. A couple next to us noted that their pork was raw and had their dish sent back twice, the servers seemed unsympathetic and annoyed that he would even ask for new food. 4 of the 7 tables in the restraint had yet to be cleared for our entire stay, all of which had at least 1 untouched plate of food.. a bad sign we should have listened too.

For a quiet Tuesday night with barely any patrons the staff seemed surprisingly unable to get anything done. Now me and my friends are back at our airbnb patiently waiting to see if the other reviews about food poisoning were right. Don’t waste your time with this crappy restaurant as there appear to be so many other nicer serviced and atmospheric choices. I wish we had not wasted one of our...
