I am utterly disgusted by the staff’s behavior on Boxing Day. As a loyal customer who has visited this restaurant 10-20 times over the past five years, I was shocked to encounter such appalling treatment. I simply asked for clarification about the difference between the main salad and the side salad because I wasn’t sure about the portion sizes. Instead of receiving a polite response, I was met with a mocking, condescending comment: “Didn’t you ask that question before?” The tone and attitude were so blatantly rude that I was left speechless. How dare someone in a customer-facing role speak to a paying customer like that? It’s your job to answer questions respectfully, not belittle customers. The audacity and arrogance of this behavior are beyond comprehension. On top of that, the size of the salad I received for $18 was shocking. It felt like the staff deliberately made the portion so ridiculously small to add insult to injury and make their ugly behavior even more apparent. When I tried to stand up for myself and said, “No matter how many times a customer asks, if they are unsure, it’s your job to explain in a way that helps them order easily,” they laughed at me again. This wasn’t just poor service—it was insulting, humiliating, and completely unacceptable. You’ve ruined your reputation with this experience and, unfortunately, lost my trust and respect as a customer. So sad … no recommend at all . I hope the management reconsider their staffing

I ate here on a Wednesday evening 7pm with my family. Cute venue, plenty of charm and clean. There were approximately 40 patrons. We were travelling through and we were all eating light. We shared the Mixed Leaf Salad With Persian Fetta, Chickpea Soft Shell Tacos with fermented bean dressing, Wild Mushroom Arancini and the Onion Rings with chipotle mayo. The salad was the best of all the dishes. It was well dressed with a generous serve of crumbled fetta. Good acidity. Both the arancini and the onion rings were perfectly fried. Light and crisp. The arancini (serving of four) was lacking a little in the flavour department, but the accompanying roast capsicum relish got it over the line. The tacos (serving of two) were served cold, by design I believe. They were a healthy choice. Acceptable, but not so flavoursome that I would order them again. Order at bar, table service 30 minute wait, $47 for the lot. Beer on tap and good choice of wine. 3.5 stars. I’d go there again.

Excellent venue. Part of The Carrington Hotel group, and just a short stroll down the hill from the mother ship, but worlds away from the opulent dining room and sunken lounges in front of a roaring fire in the main venue. The Old City Bank is a rustic, medium-priced, rollicking live music venue on Friday and Saturday nights meets a cruisy, casual place to have a quiet wine or range of beers by day. The music choice during the day suits the mood. Think SBS Chill with cocktails. The food ranges from the cheap as chips up to very reasonably-priced pizzas and more formal fare. Which you can enjoy downstairs or if you're eating, make your way upstairs for lunch or dinner. I've spent many an hour in the Old City Bank, and I'm working like a navvy right now - albeit with a glass of Pinot Noir. Beats slaving away in an airless office in town! 😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩👄👄👄

Long waits and poor service. Lunch appears to be an unanticipated event at the Old Bank with food-wanting customers catching staff completely off-guard. However, being an adaptable people, the kitchen recovered quickly and managed to serve one of our party of five within 10min! Unfortunately, after this brief spurt of productivity staff came to rest upon their laurels, presumably taking this time to investigate this previously undiscovered phenomenon of the 'lunchtime rush.' Over the next 40 minutes the other four members of our party began to wither away from hunger with one disappearing completely. During this time staff were unapologetic and rude to the point of suggesting it was our fault for having the audacity to order five meals for five people. It was minutes before our 1 hour parking spot was to expire that 75% of the remaining food came out leaving the last member of our party to stare dejectedly and contemplate whether the name of the pub, being 'The Old Bank', actually indicated that the establishment was in fact still a place of deposits and interest accrual, with the tellers possibly being the ones preparing our food in between loans and the like. Fortunately, minutes before the deadline, our last member got his burger, devouring it in record time and making quite the spectacle for the local children. Would recommend only for those who wish to have a true test of...

This place Showed plenty of promise. Nicely decorated interior and a short but well balanced menu. That's where it stopped. Staff were friendly showing us to the table but everything went south from there.

We ordered pork belly and porterhouse steak meals. Pork belly came out with a mushy cabbage base. It was tasty but the portion size would be considered an entree at best.

Then the worst of it, the porterhouse. Asked for medium well. Now in my mind medium well is grey/brown with a slight hint of pink and clear juice. It comes out red and oozing red blood.

Second time Round we get the same steak re-cooked. Comes out medium at best, with still majority pink and some colour to the blood. Sent it back again and nearly cancelled the order all together. Gave them another chance at it. Big mistake.

Third time round we get the same piece of meat, now with 5 slices in. Medium well just but dry and chewy. Chips were over cooked and salad was basic and over dressed.

Over all a very disappointing night. Won't be coming back again and would not recommend...
