I have been steadily doing a tour around the menu, and whether I'm in the mood for something quick and easy or warm and filling, they always have something to satisfy. As many times as I have shown up I have always left satisfied yet wanting more.
I think I need to review each of the items that I have sampled over the last couple of weeks.
Burrito Bowl - Amazing, authentic Mexican flavours, served with fresh ingredients. Adding a protein such as chicken breast takes the experience to another level.
Chicken Schnitzel Bowl - Fantastic crunchy panko-crumbed chicken on a bed of mash. The vegetable side changes with seasonal availability, but whether it's Paul's sweet honey carrots or the steamed broccoli, so far it has always been the perfect accoutrements only to be further elevated with his tasty homemade gravy.
Spicy Beef Chilli Bowl - This is hands down the best chilli I've had in 20 years of living in Australia. It offers a perfect Tex-Mex flavour with just the right amount of spicy kick, served on a bed of rice with tortilla corn chips and a dollop of sour cream.
Egg & Bacon Roll - My absolute favourite. Perfectly cooked and seasoned bacon and eggs served on the softest, freshest bread roll.
And that's just the main menu! Their coffee menu is also amazing, with cappuccinos, chai, and mochas all done fantastically. They offer a large selection of milk options to accommodate all sorts of dietary restrictions.
Bang Bowls - Sugar and Spice and everything nice!
Amazing food, amazing service, and a fantastic,...
Read moreAs a Katoomba local who supports our vibrant café scene, I was surprised to see that your prices are significantly lower than all the other cafés in Katoomba and Leura. While affordability is important, it feels unethical to attract customers by undercutting the competition in this way. Every other café in the area maintains similar pricing, and what you're doing seems unfair to local businesses that are trying to provide quality food at reasonable prices. During my visit to your café last week, I also felt that the lower prices might be reflected in the quality of the food. However, I do have to admit that the staff was friendly, which I appreciated. After visiting several other cafés, I felt I had to share this feedback, as this approach doesn't seem right.
After two months, I returned to this cafe, but they haven’t changed a bit—still the same average food with...
Read moreThe portion sizes are very small! Paid almost $30 for the Mexican bowl with avocado and was still super hungry after. The food itself wasn't bad but very average.
EDIT: To reply to the owner below. The bowl was $23 and added guac was an extra $4, in total I was charged $27. Not sure if the prices have now changed but that is what I was charged at the time. I didn't purchase a beverage. It's not outrageous pricing but the portion size was very small. I am a Katoomba local and it definitely isn't one of the cheaper places in town to eat. Just off the top of my head there are several places that are much better value like Pho Moi, Cedar Kebabs, Sushi n Co, Basil Nut Thai etc.
I don't mean to be petty and slander a small business, the food wasn't terrible and service was reasonable. It's really just the small portion sizes for the price...
