I had the worst experience Iāve ever had at a bar on Saturday night (26/07/25) all thanks to the man who I assumed was the security guard at the time. To my surprise this man was the co-owner of Bar 53.
I came with a group of 6 other girls. All was fine, until one of our girls who had only 3 drinks that night, fell over some tables and chairs that were very crowded in. The co-owner came to remove her from the premises, which is of course a fair call. Although, he didnāt show any sympathy, ask if she was okay or offer a glass of water. He was yelling in her face as he was disrespectfully escorting her outside.
All the girls came outside to make sure our friend was doing okay. As this was happening, the co-owner said to us with a look of disgust āWHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR GROUP?ā, in the heat of the moment I tried to brush this off and focus solely on my friend who needed help. Our group was not rowdy or rude, so this comment seemed very bizarre to me. I believe this man already had pre-conceived perceptions of our group as soon as we came in because there was no reason to make a comment like this.
We were huddled around our friend outside, trying to calm her down as she was having a severe panic attack. The next interaction I had with the co-owner only got worse. I was trying to explain to him that this girl is only young and she is going through some personal issues at the moment, so we are just here trying to calm her down so we can get her home safely. In response to this, he said āI DONāT CARE! GROW UP!ā He continued to stand around outside with the same look of disgust on his face.
I donāt usually write reviews and Iād say Iām a pretty patient person. Although, this interaction left a bitter taste in my mouth and I had to say something. As the owner of the establishment, it is part of your responsibility to make people FEEL SAFE. You should be trained in situations like these and act accordingly. Not only were his comments extremely unprofessional, they were extremely rude and actually did escalate the severity of the situation. I donāt know if he was on some sort of power trip or if he just doesnāt know how to talk to people but he definitely had a terrible attitude. This business they are running is part of the customer service industry. This sort of behaviour is completely unacceptable by anyone, let alone a co-owner of a bar. As someone who has worked in the club industry specifically for about 5 years now, I am in utter shock at how this man has treated a customer as if she was the enemy. I have never come across such disrespectful behaviour from another worker in the industry. I recommend that the man undertake some sort of customer service or sensitivity training because this sort of behaviour should not be brushed off or taken lightly.
I would like to end this by saying that the rest of the staff were lovely, especially the other co-owner of the club who was understanding and gracious in the way he handled the situation. He cared enough to make sure that the girl was doing okay. So I have no ill words to say towards any of the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad an amazing night at Bar 53 Canley Vale! Huge shoutout to the two incredible bartenders, Amelia and Stephanie their service was absolutely top-notch. They were so friendly and kind, and it was a pleasure getting to know them throughout the night. They introduced me to some great new drinks from the menu, and I truly appreciated their hospitality and warm energy.
The vibe at Bar 53 was fantastic, the music was on point, the atmosphere was buzzing with good vibes, and everything was super clean. Itās always great to go somewhere that feels welcoming and well looked after.
Amelia and Stephanie worked so efficiently all night, always with a smile, and you could tell they genuinely enjoy what they do. I also have to give a mention to the security guards, who were equally friendly and professional they added to the safe and chill environment.
Made some lovely memories and new friends canāt wait to come...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went with my bestie to 53 as we were craving steak and pasta and this dinner definitely hit the spot for us! From placing the order to when I took these pictures, the food took 17 minutes so that was pretty quick!
The steak was cooked to the requested medium rare and the vegetables were not too crunchy and not undercooked soft. The pasta was seasoned just right and it had the right amount of sauce to a pasta ratio. We came on a Thursday which was good because they had the Sydney Rock oyster special for $2. The oysters were creamy and it balanced out with the vinaigrette. Presentation of the food looked good. The staff were very friendly and approachable and the venue itself was decorated with much thought and it definitely felt comforting and homely with its āno place like homeā theme.
Definitely would recommend going if youāre looking to have a...
