Great food, helpful staff, I ordered a substantial brunch & was ripped off by the Uber Eats delivery person, he stated he delivered to my house, waited & I didn’t respond so he left with my food. I dispute this, I was waiting near the door, at no time did anyone come near the property, no phone call registered, no knock, nothing. So I had to pay $43 for no food, Uber did not support me, a very good, long term customer. Also my order stated “leave at door.” The cafe listened to my story & gave me the Uber phone line, but they aren’t responsible after handing the food over to the delivery person. I reordered as the food is very good but it was a very expensive brunch all up. Another delivery person told me that this happens with some staff, they scam the food & pretend to deliver. I’m furious with Uber eats, with my history they should have refunded my first order. But the cafe did all they could & were patient with my agitated phone calls. Thank you for that. It helped. Helen. Surry Hills. Edit: after continuing to complain to Uber Eats they refunded the $43, but informed me to always have my phone ready, so obviously they think I was in the wrong. As I’m older I have my phone with me 95% of my time, always when waiting for any deliveries. I’m pleased I received a refund but am still annoyed they don’t...

Bootsdarling

Bootsdarling is a quaint little cafe in Paddington/Darlinghurst with a rustic / vintage inspired look. Situated on the corner of Taylor St and South Dowling St, just before you get to Oxford St. It’s often quite busy, but we were there early on a Sunday morning before the locals awoke and we got a great table outside.

The menu is internationally inspired and a few of the dishes reflective of those we’ve seen in Asia like their Nasi goreng and oumorice.

An all day breakfast with a great menu from a Smokey croissant to corn fritters, açai bowls and even pandan pancakes. For lunch you’ll even find beer rendane

We opted for savoury dishes, specifically enjoying the tomato based Shakshuka, made with smoked eggplant, smoked capsicum, chickpeas, zucchini, tomato, zaatar and baked eggs served with toast.

The fresh and healthy bowl was a great start to the day. Their green goodness bowl, complete with lightly sautéed kale, avocado, broccoli, edamame, lentil, quinoa, mix seeds, poached egg and zaatar came served with two slices of sourdough toast.

The coffee here is really good, using one of our favourites from Royale specialty. In addition there’s smoothies, juices and teas for the non coffee drinkers out there.

Friendly and efficient staff too, making for a good...

Bootsdarling is a great little Cafe with homey and rustic decor throughout. Dining there made me feel like ‘home’. They offer variety of dishes including classic Cafe dishes, vegan/vegetarian option and Indonesian dish that is changed from time to time. Coffee was amazing (from Milkybar Blend). The chai latte and iced chocolate were yum too. I tried several dishes from them including Hotcakes with fresh fruit, Linguine with slow cooked beef brisket, the new dish-Croissant and Gado gado (Indonesian salad with peanut sauce). Every single dish was beautifully plated, perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. Insta-worthy too :) The highlight for me was definitely the Linguine with slow cooked beef brisket, sauteed mushroom, poached egg in homemade sauce. Absolutely delicious! Pasta was al dente, beef brisket was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and that sauce.. brought the dish to the next level! Hopefully they keep this ‘special’ dish on the menu....

Lovely corner cafe which is very popular and always busy. I recently spent some time in hospital nearby and my wife and children discovered this gem of a cafe for their lunches. They would come back to the hospital and tell me how good it was after I had just eaten my hospital food. Approx one month later, after a checkup, I asked my wife to take me there. Not only did they welcome my wife like they had seen her yesterday, they put two and two together asked me how I was going and if I was well now. I noticed the same friendly attitude to all their customers. We had the satay chicken and rice that my wife and children had raved about and it lived up to expectations. They make a really good coffee also. No wonder they are busy. They have a few tables outside, limited seating inside but I image most of there business is take away. Highly recommended.
