We booked through The Fork website because they offer 30% off dine in, but let me begin by saying that before we decided to dine here, we read a few of the customer reviews saying that they don't honour the 30% Fork discount OR that they calculate the 30% wrong, so before we arrived, I messaged Bella Puglia to ask if they accept The Fork 30% discount and they wrote me back saying Yes. After we ate here and asked for our bill, I knew we had to check the amount properly to see if they took off the 30%....The only reason being is because so many people on the reviews say they don't calculate it properly, therefore try to steal your money....So after we added everything up (excluding our 2 cokes) because drinks are not included in the deal, the reviews were 100% correct!! They did not give us the full discount. So I took the lady our bill and told her it was not calculated properly and she looked at me funny and told me drinks are not included in the deal...and I told her back, yes I know this as I did not include the drinks and at this stage she just stared at me like OMG, but I was not giving up, or backing down! She then took out her calculator and added it all up....AND guess what??? She realised she stuffed up...and we got an extra $20 off our bill!!!! I'm sorry Bella Puglia, but we enjoyed the food so much, it was delicious and we were even thinking of having our Nonna's 80th b'day party here, but after that ridiculous situation we just knew that we won't be coming back! We all work hard for our money and noone should ever try to take advantage of that! No excuses for adding up the bill wrong or calculating the 30% wrong, because we were warned by many reviews before we arrived...this is why we were prepared! Mille grazie to the chef though who did...
Read moreJust had family Mother's Day dinner here. We discovered on arrival it was a set menu. This wasn't advertised on the website and we weren't informed upon booking. Such is life. Not the end of the world but we felt bad for the organiser as they felt responsible for people being forced to pay more than they anticipated and not having the option of being able to choose what they wanted. Food was mostly enjoyable and generous portions. However, "eye fillet" ended up being scotch fillet. We're guessing they undercalculated quantities and ran out because we saw some nice eye fillet going out to other tables before ours. We weren't asked if we wanted steak cooked rare, medium etc which is unusual these days and all steaks were overdone. The worst aspect of the meal however, was having wait staff removing share plates that still had food on them while people were still serving themselves and eating without asking if we'd finished. After the main the meal the waiter was literally standing hovering over people who were clearly still eating and asking if he could take their plate. Acknowledged Mother's Day is always a very busy occasion and it's important for service to be efficient and timely but this was actually rude and not something I've encountered anywhere before. It was as if we were an inconvenience taking up space (at $100 a head) and they were in a big hurry to be rid of us. We had a 6.30 booking so we thought perhaps they were heavily booked later and tried to be forgiving for the abrupt attitude. This wasn't the case however as when we left just after 8.00 the restaurant was almost empty. We were honestly a bit confused by the whole odd experience but won't be...
Read moreREPLY TO RESTAURAN'S COMMENT: No, you didn't offer free TAP WATER. Actually, you acted like offerring tap water, but instead you sneakily brought the bottled water you charge $9. This is exactly the reason of this complaint. ORIGINAL COMMENT: I'm a Five Dock local and I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant since I moved in this neighbourhood 5 years ago because both the food and the service were good. It still is. Today I went there again with my partner and my kid. We ordered two pizzas and a kids pasta. The waiter asked if we wanted to drink anything, when we said no, he said "Just water then?" We said yes please. When we were finished, I went to the counter, the lady printed the receipt and I saw that they had charged $9 for that bottle of water. No matter how good the food is, luring the customer into your trap that you set over the regular water which is served for free in all restaurants in the whole country is unacceptable. And doing this shameful thing only for snatching an extra $9 from a customer is simply pathetic. I will never set foot in this restaurant again, nor any...
