Black Cockatoo Bakery in Katoomba deserves a solid 4/5 for its charming atmosphere and delightful offerings. The highlight for me was undeniably the coffee – rich, robust, and expertly brewed. It set the perfect tone for my visit and showcased the bakery's commitment to quality.
Beyond the tempting aroma of fresh coffee, the shelves adorned with jams and local produce added a unique touch. The curated selection of goodies reflected a dedication to supporting local suppliers and offered customers the chance to take a piece of the region's flavors home with them.
The bakery's ambiance is cozy, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely break. The friendly staff further enhanced the experience, providing attentive service that added a personal touch.
While the bakery excels in coffee and artisanal products, a slightly more extensive menu could cater to a broader range of preferences. Nevertheless, the existing array of treats is well-executed and showcases a commitment to using quality ingredients.

Read moreBeen around various coffee places in Katoomba, Leura, Wentworth falls I would definitely recommend this cafe for good coffee and extraordinary croissants. The croissants are crispy on the outside and extremely fluffy and soft inside. The perfect blend of crispy and soft. Being a croissant junkie been to hundreds in Sydney and Melbourne and discovered a few places after spending enough $$$. So when I discovered this place , had to provide you guys with an exceptional pace to visit. The cafe is quite contemporary and feels totally different from other cafes in the Blue mountains. There are tables to sit inside , some by the entrance window which are great for people watching while enjoying the food/ drinks. Reasonable pricing for the coffee and both the normal croissants and the delicious almond croissants. On their dry shelves they have an interesting collection of Breads (ancient grain) , Condiments ( chilli sauce , mustard sauces) good quality honey obviously being in the mountains but in their cold shelves they have nice cheese and butter which looked very good. The staff are also really nice and helpful to discuss about their items and the healthy ingredients. Highly recommended place when in the Blue...
Read moreOrdered a regular cappuccino ( they forgot to sweeten it though I asked ) and an almond croissant. $12. The coffee came in a cup so small I finished it in 4 sips ! The almond croissant was so hard ( “ oh, they’re double baked “ ) that I had to exchange it, and I tried the raisin scroll instead. Again, chewy and not very palatable. The place has little atmosphere and the music is too loud. Hard wooden benches and tables make for a quick meal and exit. I noticed the bread was priced at $15 a loaf !!! Altogether a not very pleasant experience and WAY overpriced. The staff were basically there to do their job and chat with their friends….. Will not be back.
Just read the response to my review. Very well put and explained; but still does not explain the fact that I could have been ASKED if I’d like a larger coffee and made to feel a little more welcome by the staff who were offhand and totally busy with their own agendas. I would have tried a loaf of your “home made” breads but as I already said - the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Having worked in hospitality all my life, I feel qualified enough to leave this review as originally stated. Your response was acknowledged and...
