Long standing fast food venue in the area, popular for its fried chicken, chips & gravy.. In which the name of the fast food store was called 'Sydney Fried Chicken' now 'Campbelltown Fried Chicken' Don't let the old school lay-out of this fast food venue fool you, as most of the great take away venues are simple by design.. The menu hasn't changed much.. probably since its establishment, menu board above at counter appears still the same today.. When ever I'm in the area I visit solely for the crispy chips with chicken salt & gravy & coleslaw salad, great combination.. but today their fridge had run out of the coleslaw... Others will swear by their crispy fried chicken.. Still haven't found another venue that can match their chips.. KFC would have to be the closest match but still not the same.
The take away chip & gravy packs are a good value with the largest being $6.60, medium $5.60 & small $4.60 & the packets are a good size filled with a generous amount of gravy over chips.. The chips look a little fatter than they did years ago but still crunchy & taste good. Some of the chips looked a bit bruised but most were OK.. Hence loosing a point.. The original owner of this fast food store from over a decade ago had sold it & the venue is now managed by a new nice, humble & polite couple.. .
The food board menu on the wall & old fashioned setting appears to have not changed at all .. Everything is as it appeared years ago.. Probably still most likely the same as it looked when first established.... Their stool Seats, are bolted down into the large tiled floor with large tables.. This setting probably goes back to the early 90s... With video arcade games lined up against one side of venue's wall, with a stuffed toy, lucky dip machine, where you can try your luck at catching a prize.. These are here to attract the youth in the area to the store.. It worked from over 2 decades ago, the store was popular with the youth in the area...so I don't see why it shouldn't still be popular with the youth that live in the...
Read moreThis place has been a part of campbelltown history - back when it use to be called "sydney fried chicken" (SFC) nothing would compare to this place . nowadays i can't make this claim
The only reason this place still has customers is because they kept the old chicken salt supplier & their gravy has still remained the same . That is literally the only thing carrying this business - but current owners can't take credit for that, as they inherited the recipe from the previous owners.
i have rated this place a 1 star because of the incredibly CHEAP , RUDE , & ANGRY asian lady who owns the place . if you have been here you know exactly who i'm talking about .
i cant believe how stingy she is , she acts like she is doing you a favour when you ask for napkins or a fork with you food - she will often snub you and try her best not to offer you cutlery in hope she can save a penny ( such an off putting thing to do ) .
If you have visit this place you'll know exactly what i'm taking about .
i really hope she sells the place to someone more friendly who will actually give the business its due rights .
For now i will still reluctantly put up with her distinguishing attitude and continue to be ripped off for her over priced hot chips and gravy (just because the chicken salt & gravy is...
Read moreI went to Campbelltown Primary (on the same road) from 1986-1992 and as far as I remember, this shop was great way back then. Nothing except the owner has changed and I still go in for a two pieces fried chicken with chips & gravy every time I happen to be going thru Campbelltown. Wish they would update the store but since the Salt on the chips and the yummy chicken is still the same I keep going back. About 20-25 years ago I went to another Sydney Fried Chicken store in Chester Hill. Not sure if it's still there but Cambo has the original and best store. Hope they open down in Wollongong, my family alone will keep them...
