If anyone in Sydney serves true taste of Nepal then it definitely has to be Gaamghar, as all others are busy copying Indian restaurant and their food and their way of cooking, Gaamghar stands out with the true taste of Nepal. OMG!! Gaamghar restaurant in Campbeltown really surprises me every time I go there with its authentic flavours and dishes. I loved some fusion the Chef has developed as well like tandoori momo, different twist to overly powered sweetened mango lassi (Indian style) with Nepalese spice blended, balanced sugared mango lassi. Top level samosa chat and bhuttan, canโ€™t forget the unique momo platter and specially the hand made chowmin. Where else do you find these uniqueness in Sydney? Me being a Chef myself, I am really very proud of the chef in Gaamghar who has put tremendous effort into his food. I never miss to eat there whenever I travel towards Campbeltown. This was my 4th time and I must say, I had never felt so positive about any restaurant like this before. Great environment, very informative and presentable staff and outstanding authentic food. Good work Gaamghar. Congratulations and...

Wonderful momos (dumplings)! I would recommend the momo tasting platter if there is a few in your group. These were wonderful with a great variety of flavours.

The service is very prompt without being intrusive. The staff were very helpful in suggesting dishes for our first visit.

The food was a bit too spicy for a few of our party, although they still loved the food and drank lots of water to keep eating. I would suggest asking for mild spice levels if you are not tolerant of spice.

Mango lassis were lovely. They tasted spiced which was a pleasant surprise. I think they are made fresh as they were served at room temperature.

Butter naan is a spectacular accompaniment to any main.

Best to ask the servers for advice when first visiting so you can choose something you will like.

The gulab jamun was a perfect balance of sweet and sour. A perfect way to finish the meal.

The menu was a little hard to navigate, otherwise a brilliant experience.

Thanks to all the staff for such a...

Had an amazing experience tonight at this humble restaurant ๐Ÿ™Œ Haven't had Nepali food before so wasn't 100% sure what to order so started with chicken momo which was so delicious juicy and tasty yum!!! Nice and spicy too which i enjoy but she asked how we wanted it. Then we got the mutton thakali?? Like Indian Thali with mutton curry which was so good with a creamy richness and a depth of flavour I haven't had often! The Dal was nothing like indian one and overall the food is more natural flavoured than full of overwhelming spices! Greatnlittle side of vegetable curry and the yoghurt was devine! We absolutely loved the chicken curry much more mild tasting and superb along with the garlic naan which to me was closer to afghani bread, it was amazing ๐Ÿ‘ All this plus rice and two drinks , $65 is mind blowing I thought it would be much more. The server was a lovely sweet girl and we will definitely be back!!!...

We ordered online through Menulog to pick up our food from the restaurant. I arrived a few minutes before the time the food was meant to be ready, our order was brought out to me only 3 minutes past that time, nothing to complain about there. The venue looks pretty good, some pleasant recorded music was being played during my visit. We had ordered the following items : Momo Platter Mixed Chow Mein Mushroom Chilli Dhido Set with Goat Curry Plain Naan Butter Naan All of the food was still hot when I arrived home a few minutes later, and tasted fresh and flavourful. Some of it was a little too spicey for us, but that is personal taste, not a complaint about the quality. My favourite was the Momo Platter, this provides various flavours and textures. The Naan tasted nice, especially when eaten with the various sauces provided. Is the food authentic Nepalese ? I can't say, but it was delicious and enjoyable.

I donโ€™t know about others but I had the worst Nepali and Indian food experience ever, would have given less if it was possible. Firstly, the butter chicken had 6 dry chicken on it with watery and oily sauce instead of creamy sauce as if additional water was added to the 1 serving to make it 3 servings. Secondly, the chowmein was very oily as you can see in the picture and looked like a very dry hokkien noodles. Thirdly, the naan was like a thick version paratha instead of it being chewy and fluffy. Finally, for the momo which I wanted very much had less spices then required and itโ€™s soup was overpowered by timur spice which made the whole taste like timur. Got these as a takeaway and the whole family was very disappointed about the food. Never going to the place again.
